January 22, 201510 yr I wonder if the new patio seating on the upper level will provide catered food options to the parties seated .
January 22, 201510 yr I'm most excited about the dual level bar :) I'd like to see the progress on that.
January 24, 201510 yr Very nice! Cleveland Indians will create Bob Feller museum at Progressive Field http://www.cleveland.com/tribe/index.ssf/2015/01/cleveland_indians_will_create.html
February 12, 201510 yr An updated construction photos link. http://tribevibe.mlblogs.com/2015/02/11/photo-gallery-progressive-field-construction-updates-feb-11/ This is a link with 4 options of names for the new bar in the right field. They are asking the public to vote 1. Blues Brewhouse 2.Carnegie Corner 3.District Brewhouse 4.Tribe Taphouse http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/cle/fan_forum/bar_vote.jsp?partnerId=as_cle_20150211_40310866&adbid=565495517992345600&adbpl=tw&adbpr=52861612
February 12, 201510 yr My vote for "Carnegie Corner" is placed! Mine too! Excited to see the changes this summer (and the team!).
February 12, 201510 yr I'm not a big fan of any of them and they're not exactly creative. "District Brewhouse" might be a good option if it was for Nationals Park. That being said, I think Carnegie Corner is the best of the bunch, followed by Blues Brewhouse (but I wonder how many people would get the "Blues" reference--and the ones that would are probably not the same people that they're building the bar for).
February 12, 201510 yr I like Blues Brewhouse and think they can create a mini museum to highlight that part of the franchise's history. I certainly didn't know that until I read it today.
February 13, 201510 yr McDowell's. As per earlier posts on upper-right field, that area will be mainly geared toward large groups (companies, school/community groups, etc.) In the past these large groups would only have "meeting/mingling" spaces on the outer edges of the stadium, with no view of the field. Now, they will have an affordable area, with views of the field, and amenities to create a picnic/bbq style experience. The main public improvements will be on the lower-level and mezzanine concourses. The bar and new food options should seriously add some more life to the place. Also, the Tribe is shaping up to be very, very good.
February 13, 201510 yr I recieved a survey from the Indians floating the idea of a $15 SRO ticket for the new bar and it would come with your first beer free. I hope they do this.
February 13, 201510 yr I recieved a survey from the Indians floating the idea of a $15 SRO ticket for the new bar and it would come with your first beer free. I hope they do this. That would be amazing, considering that first beer could set you back $10!
February 13, 201510 yr ^Daddy Wags and Sudden Sams are awesome. Much better then the meh stuff from Tribe marketing department. And I would be all over that $15 SRO bar deal if I lived in town. Like multiple games per week.
February 13, 201510 yr And the vendors should all be placed along a promenade named "Trader Lane." "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
February 14, 201510 yr Honoring the legacy left by previous owners why not name the bar "The Jake". If it weren't for The Jacobs we wouldn't have this ballpark.
February 14, 201510 yr I have always liked the name of Nap Lajoie who is described as the American Leagues first superstar. Spent 12 years in Cle both as player and mgr. He was so popular at one point the team was named the "Naps' after Napoleon. So I would call it Napoleon's.
February 14, 201510 yr Honoring the legacy left by previous owners why not name the bar "The Jake". If it weren't for The Jacobs we wouldn't have this ballpark. A lot of people (myself very much included) still call the ballpark that.
February 14, 201510 yr The Spiders Taphouse....after the Cleveland Spiders which preceded the Indians. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
February 14, 201510 yr Honestly, I wish they were still the Cleveland Spiders. What a badass name. Agreed. If the pressure to remove Chief Wahoo ever succeeds (as it probably should), I would vote to revert to the Spiders name.
February 14, 201510 yr Is anyone else concerned about how all of this work will be completed by Opening Day. Looking at those pictures, it seems very optimistic to think this will be completed in time. Opening Day is in about 6 weeks.

If the pressure to remove Chief Wahoo ever succeeds (as it probably should), I would vote to revert to the Spiders name. That's not very politically correct. That name would be offensive to those that suffer from arachnephobia
February 15, 201510 yr Players who were on Spiders roster had arachnophobia too. That was one of the worst baseball teams in history! "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

Looking at those pictures, it seems very optimistic to think this will be completed in time. Opening Day is in about 6 weeks. So we're going to play this game again? The exact same concerns spread on this forum about the Browns renovations not being ready for preseason, and it all worked out.

If the pressure to remove Chief Wahoo ever succeeds (as it probably should), I would vote to revert to the Spiders name. The weird thing about changing the name...there would no longer be a current major sports team in town with a World Series/Superbowl/NBA Championship. Yes, I know the Browns won NFL titles, but nobody seems to count those.

Yes, I know the Browns won NFL titles, but nobody seems to count those. That's because, according to ESPN, NFL history didn't begin until 1970. Count how many times they reference records/stats as being "since the merger." February 24, 201510 yr http://cleveland.indians.mlb.com/cle/fan_forum/bar_vote.jsp 'Carnegie Corner' won last week's fan vote for the name of the new two-story, indoor-outdoor bar at Progressive Field! Now we want to know which option below you like better! Vote below. Vote on design for new bar at Progressive Field! Carnegie Corner The Corner
February 24, 201510 yr Players who were on Spiders roster had arachnophobia too. That was one of the worst baseball teams in history! That's because the current owners at the time bought the St. Louis Browns, while still owning the Spiders. They transferred most of the good players from the Spiders to the Browns, which rendered the Spiders basically a AA Minor League club. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
February 24, 201510 yr I prefer the name of the second one, and the design of the first one. I agree...even though the actual corner that the bar sits on is Carnegie and E. 9th...
February 24, 201510 yr ^Yeah, that's why I don't like the second one. Negates the pun that it's the right field corner by being so literal to Hammy's trademark intro. And the more I thought about it, the alliteration with "Carnegie" is so bland an unnecessary. Not sure why this thing can't just be "The Corner Bar". And thanks to Bosco, I'm still sad it's not "Sudden Sam's" or "Daddy Wags," which are awesome.
February 24, 201510 yr "The Corner" was actually a common nickname for Tiger Stadium, so I'm surprised it is even being proposed as an option, even with Hamilton's trademark intro.
February 24, 201510 yr Why does it seem like our teams are so loaded with mediocrity lately regarding marketing and branding??
February 24, 201510 yr I'd agree on the Browns, but this could be worse. And how about the Cavs? This is brilliant: http://www.cleveland.com/drinks/index.ssf/2015/02/all_for_one_ale_to_celebrate_c.html#comments
February 24, 201510 yr Why does it seem like our teams are so loaded with mediocrity lately regarding marketing and branding?? Whoever put out those first Jacobs Field ads, get those guys back. Really. Those t.v. commercials made me play catch with my dad, then run out and buy season tickets.
March 4, 201510 yr @indians BREAKING: Great Lakes Brewing Co. & Dynomite Burgers are coming to Progressive Field! Info: http://t.co/mztiFFPkYV http://t.co/sxGcROLKfN "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
March 4, 201510 yr They seem to be doing all the right things on this Progressive Field renovation. I'm not even a baseball fan, but I would love to go to a couple games this summer and enjoy some Barrio tacos while getting tipsy on Great Lakes (I'll probably have to pre-game, though, as I'm sure the beer prices won't be cheap).

Last year I believe it was $7.75 for a 12 ounce Great Lakes. Not cheap, but I've seen worse. You can't beat the $4 12 oz domestic draft deal though.
March 4, 201510 yr As of last year, Progressive had the cheapest beer in the big leagues, in fact (presumably just for the domestics): http://www.businessinsider.com/beer-prices-major-league-baseball-stadium-2014-4

March 4, 201510 yr I like what the tribe has done. They have essentially turned progressive field into a farmers market for Clevelanders favorite food and beer stops. Its a one stop shop. Pulling people in for more than baseball. They must've had a nice strategic planning session

A team in our market can't bank on making the playoffs every single year and there aren't enough hard core baseball fans to fill the stadium every night. You have to give casual fans a reason to come, especially for those years in which the team might not be a contender.

A team in our market can't bank on making the playoffs every single year and there aren't enough hard core baseball fans to fill the stadium every night. You have to give casual fans a reason to come, especially for those years in which the team might not be a contender. Exactly, and frankly...hey have a winning team on the field. If you can just make it to the playoffs anything can happen. Look at the Royals last year. They were down 7-0 in the wildcard game and were a game away from a championship. You cant complain about overpaying for players anymore, that doesn't guarantee anything. Look at the Yankees, boston, LAA, LAD, Detroit. a few made the playoffs last year, but again, anything can happen in the playoffs and the tribe are right there. So, considering the front office has done its job to put a winning team on the field, and the fans still aren't pouring in. They are turning to other business strategies to get people in the door. I applaud it.
March 4, 201510 yr ^^^and we have to stop using 455 as a barometer. That will never happen again even if they had Mike Trout, Miguel Cabrera, Madison Bumgardner and King Felix.
March 4, 201510 yr ^ Agree 100%. Also, it particularly bothers me when people complain about spending money on renovations instead of on the team because I wonder how many of those same people would be complaining if public money had been used on the renovations. Why don't we applaud the Dolans for making a big investment in the facility with their own money, as opposed to Unlce Jimmy who wanted the city to foot the bill for FES upgrades? And as for the team, it looks like they're going to have a pretty good team this year too.
