July 1, 20195 yr Got another source confirming an August groundbreaking. No date yet, but could have it as early as next week. The source is VERY GOOD. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

July 2, 20195 yr ^just for the surface lot, not counting the garage I'm getting: 250 spots * $100 * 5 days = $125,000. The garage has to have almost as many spots right?

July 2, 20195 yr Should have a great view from my office of this project getting off the ground. Excited for August! Does anyone know any planned retail? Wasn’t the last news that the Cleveland Live concept was dead (and I assume Shake Shack is a bit unviable now)?
July 2, 20195 yr Any chance there will be tweaks to the design and layout? Everything has been approved from the drawings we last saw?

July 2, 20195 yr ^I guess i was thinking since the city was kicking in some money there were certain design tweaks they wanted to see happen for better continuity.

I think there was a post last week that discussed updated retail (cannot remember if it was just a forum members info or from a news article but I believe it was an article) indicating that Cleveland Live was taking 50.000 square feet (that seemed to me to be a lot and I wonder if it was a misprint) and a Starbuck Reserve was going in as well as something else I cannot recall.

A recent KJP blog says its A Fox Sports Live and Starbucks. Cannot find where I saw Cleveland Live (again I thought it was a recent article) and the 50,000 square feet number which seems insane.
July 2, 20195 yr Here is the article: http://realestate.cleveland.com/realestate-news/2017/02/cleveland_live_will_anchor_nuc.html "A nearly 50,000-square-foot entertainment venue called Cleveland Live! will be a major anchor for the planned nuCLEus project in downtown's Gateway District." Starbucks Reserve also has committed to a 3,000-square-foot lease. HopCat, based in Michigan, will occupy 8,500 square feet." Edited July 2, 20195 yr by mrclifton88
July 2, 20195 yr The "Live!" chain run by the Cordish Companies of Baltimore has huge venues: http://cordish.com/live. They were going to open a "Cleveland Live!" to go along with their other city brands. But a new brand for them is the Fox Sports Midwest which has only one venue, in St. Louis. July 2, 20195 yr I hope they put balconies on the South side of the apartment complex (like the top floors on the north side) as it would allow for great views of the baseball games and fireworks.

It's unfortunate the concept didn't seem to survive into the final design.

July 3, 20195 yr Cleveland Live? Sounds like a rip of LA Live. If LA Live can help revamp the Staples Center area. Cleveland ive can certainly continue the progress in the gateway area. I think all this talk about a game changing development in the Gateway area, with a tower, residential and hotel is now now underwhelming for the location. I generally like the conservative approach to residential development, here in Cleveland, because it keeps occupancy high, creates demand and makes nearby landlord invest and/or upgrade in their properties. I would like to see and additional ten stories on each tower. Edited July 3, 20195 yr by MyTwoSense

July 3, 20195 yr Using Google Sketchup and lots of reference photos, I recreated nuCLEus to scale almost perfectly (no, I do not work for Stark ?). Then, using my and @Clevecane‘s photos from the Beacon thread, geolocation in Google Sketchup and a little Photoshop wizardry, here are the same views, but 3 or so years from now with nuCLEus in the mix. Unfortunately for the Tremont locals, the beautiful view of Beacon won’t be around for long once nuCLEus rises, but I think it’ll be worth it... Also, walking down 4th towards “The Rock” (it’ll catch on, just wait) and on-and-around Huron in 3 years is going to be great (*marvels at all the glass*).
