December 24, 20213 yr Another beautiful photo posting at reddit by RedHawkDrone. This building might attract some oddballs to our fair city, but it really is an elegant structure. And when its adorned with special lighting for the holiday season, it looks even better: https://www.reddit.com/r/Columbus/comments/rgo07e/the_ohio_statehouse_in_holiday_colors/

February 18, 20223 yr It's quite amazing how the views are changing. When you're to the South or West (I'm sure other points as well but these are the ones, I use the most based on where I live and drive into downtown) the height happening at OSU is really becoming more noticeable than before, and really draws your eye. Obviously downtown has way more tall buildings, but OSU is stepping up a lot and appears to have its own skyline at this point, let alone when all the steel and exterior of this place are in place!! Bring on the 34+ towers in Franklinton next!!! Continual heigh at OSU, High Stree/Short North/Convention/North Market/Franklinton......Buildings going up everywhere in Columbus!!!
February 20, 20223 yr Taken from Riverside. All of OSU’s construction is really prominent from this vantage point. Can even see the Hilton 2.0 crane if you zoom in.
March 25, 20223 yr I found this awesome shot on r/Columbus of High Street looking south toward downtown from campus. If you zoom in it really gives a great sense of all the hustle and bustle of High Street.
March 25, 20223 yr ^Nice! Similar to a photo I took back in 2017 except the tower cranes are in different locations.

In this pic, the street looks a bit rough. Also, surprised there are no bike lanes.

The stretch of High Street you can see here is campus which is in the middle of a bunch of construction projects right now. It doesn’t make sense to rehab until some of the projects wrap up. The main bike lanes are one block east of here.

April 11, 20223 yr Awesome panorama taken from Gahanna. Hilton Tower is a nice addition to the skyline and the new Wexner Medical Center tower is already dwarfing The James.

February 20, 20232 yr Hi all, figured I'd sign up finally. I'm M, User:Ɱ on Wikipedia. I've been writing hundreds of articles on Columbus culture and history, and took a lot of my own photographs for articles, but am not too mobile these days. If anyone's willing to contribute their own photos that would be amazing! It would just need to accompany a sentence saying they're under the Creative Commons Attribution license (allowing people to share and reuse). I really want help showing off the culture, history, and yes, even good architecture of Columbus as best I can. Edited February 20, 20232 yr by M

February 20, 20232 yr Remember when those High St. arches were the first color-changing LED lights anyone had ever seen? Remember how it took them two years to get them working?

The design was flawed, and never functioned as intended. Water leakage into the system and other problems led the arches to emit nothing but a limp, sickly green glow for years until the city gave in and just turned them off entirely Finally they were rewired with the LED system we have today, and I doubt anyone can imagine the SN without them

I think they were installed in the early 1990s: https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1297746,-84.509564,3a,75y,2.07h,127.3t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sZonBvVECGsmS3ne9K9RD3Q!2e0!7i16384!8i8192 It's funny to look at them up-close on this street view image, since they've had various things tacked onto them over the years, including a security camera and an underwhelming "Short Vine" sign. I noticed over the last month or so, they had construction crews on the roof, which I assume they were fixing the leak/roofing issues that were occurring. Is it just me, or does the roof signage looked more pronounced than before and possibly even the option to be illuminated? Attaching an online photo where the logo appears more flush like a flat wrap material. Bring on the nightime aerial/drone footage!!! Also, I hope when they replace the arena roof, they put roof signage on as well. Edited October 24, 20231 yr by Gnoraa

Tall Pines, Chestnut Ridge, and Slate Run are all very good metro parks. Slate Run has a great "living farm" from the 1800s if you've never been, and Chestnut Ridge has a vantage point that provides a view of the downtown skyline on a clear day. Great pics by the way!
