Posted August 13, 201410 yr Well, Cleveland and Columbus each have their own "random pictures" threads, so here's one for Cincinnati! If you've taken a photo or two and don't have enough for a dedicated photo thread, throw your random Cincinnati photographs in here.
August 13, 201410 yr Author Very interesting to see Salazar (a trendy new restaurant created by one of the city's best chefs) next to a vacant storefront. Sums up a lot of the changes happening in OTR right now.
August 13, 201410 yr OTCH is rehabbing that vacant building next to Salazar. “All truly great thoughts are conceived while walking.” -Friedrich Nietzsche
August 13, 201410 yr Not one of my best shots so I didn't include it in my Cincinnati photo thread, but I found this inaccessible Jewish cemetery in the West End.
August 18, 201410 yr Author A scene from the movie Miles Ahead being filmed on Main Street in Over-the-Rhine (July 24, 2014):
August 20, 201410 yr This apartment building in Price Hill has always appealed to me. It just has an interesting look and I would really enjoy sitting on one of those porches some evening. This section of Ross Avenue between Warsaw and Glenway Avenues still has brick pavers. The entrances have the names "Alma" and "Richter" above the doorways. I wonder if Alma Richter was someone who was special to the person who had this place built?
August 20, 201410 yr That is a beautiful building. I find it fascinating that the terrible new doors and cheap balcony railings don't seem to detract from the beautify of the structure one bit.
August 21, 201410 yr That is a beautiful building. I find it fascinating that the terrible new doors and cheap balcony railings don't seem to detract from the beautify of the structure one bit. The doors don't bother me, the wood railings I could do without. ^^ All those damn wires... I moved around a bit, but there just wasn't any escaping them.
August 21, 201410 yr Author I usually don't have an opportunity to get over to Washington Park on weeknights. I assumed that it was fairly low key on weeknights, compared to the weekends when it's always packed. However I got a chance to get over there recently and it turns out people are eating up all of the weeknight events:
August 21, 201410 yr Maybe it's just because I live a block away, but I'm noticing a TON more people going to the nightly events in Washington Park than in the past. It seems like every night the place is packed and people are enjoying themselves. I love it. I try to walk over at least once a day depending on what I'm doing after work and always enjoy seeing the crowd. That park has probably done more towards changing perceptions than anything else in the neighborhood. I have coworkers that bring their kids there for events and love going down there and bringing friends and family. It's great.
August 29, 201410 yr Author One of the many bricked-up doorways at (on? in?) Music Hall: I really hope that we can find a way to renovate Music Hall in the next couple of years. I would loved to see these doorways and windows opened up.
September 2, 201410 yr Author Alms & Doepke Building: Currently owned by Hamilton County, but I really think they should sell it off to be redeveloped as luxury condos.
October 29, 201410 yr Author Exactly five years ago, we were getting a preview of some new bar called Neon's Unplugged:
October 29, 201410 yr Author I don't remember those chairs...how long were they there? I don't remember those specific chairs, but I remember that Neon's got all new outdoor furniture during year 2 or 3.
November 13, 201410 yr Author Main Street in Over-the-Rhine, near the newly opened Liberty's Bar & Bottle:
February 8, 201510 yr As a child my family lived in Bond Hill. It was about as middle class as you could probably find. The houses in the neighborhood had been built between the late 1800's and the 1960's. I was always fond of these Tudor style homes that were all over the neighborhood.
February 15, 201510 yr The Woodward Theater by Eridony, on Flickr It would be so great to have a movie theater in downtown again. When I moved to the CBD in the late 1970s there were still a few smaller ones left. I realize entertainment has changed a lot since then, but considering the demographics of the CBD and OTR it seems there'd be a captive market at least for a place that showed independent/art house films like The Movies did (it was at Race and Garfield where the Cincinnati Shakespeare Theater is now). The Emery Theater used to show classic/vintage films for a while, with a pre-show concert featuring the Mighty Wurlitzer organ! Both venues were great fun for cinephiles. It would be a nice amenity to be able to walk a shorter distance than all the way to Newport to see a film.
March 3, 201510 yr Author 13th and Walnut Streets by taestell, on Flickr This building had been considered a "problem property" and was recently purchased by 3CDC. Hopefully they will give it a big renovation and re-open the first floor retail spaces. This building is directly adjacent to the Mercer Commons apartment building on Walnut.
March 3, 201510 yr That building is inscribed "The Columbia" above the door I believe. www.cincinnatiideas.com
April 8, 201510 yr Author Updated panorama from Mt. Echo Park using my new camera (Panasonic Lumix GH4):
April 9, 201510 yr VERY nice. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

May 7, 201510 yr Author Pleasant Street townhomes with the Carew Tower peeking out in the background:
May 12, 201510 yr Author If you haven't checked out the rooftop bar (or "Cocktail Terrace") at the 21C Hotel in Downtown Cincinnati, it has some pretty good views...
May 12, 201510 yr Travis - have you been to the Top of the Park yet (on the roof of the Residence Inn at Lytle Park)? I'd love to see some of your photos from there, because it has great views of downtown, the River, and Mt Adams.
May 12, 201510 yr I just noticed that the Auditor's site recently updated the CAGIS photography to feature aerial images up through March of 2015. Up until recently, they only had imagery from up through 2013. I also noticed the UrbanOhio recently changed their image size max to 1200kb (used to be 200kb) - much appreciated! Here's an aerial shot of the work being done along I-71 at the MLK exchange:

I'd love to see some of your photos from there, because it has great views of downtown, the River, and Mt Adams. I haven't been there yet, but it's on my list! I also will admit (shamefully, as a life-long Cincinnatian) that I have never been to the Carew Tower observation deck.
May 12, 201510 yr Author My company also has a corporate apartment at the Renaissance, which has a great rooftop deck -- you can see it in the third photo I posted above. One of these days, I'm going to get some shots from up there.
May 12, 201510 yr I just noticed that the Auditor's site recently updated the CAGIS photography to feature aerial images up through March of 2015. I can only view 2011 aerial images on CAGIS.
May 12, 201510 yr I just noticed that the Auditor's site recently updated the CAGIS photography to feature aerial images up through March of 2015. I can only view 2011 aerial images on CAGIS. You have to go through the County Auditor's property search feature to get their aerial images. Their site uses CAGIS maps, bur for some reason CAGIS doesn't have the birds-eye images that the Auditor's site has.
