April 28, 20205 yr It's going to be really great if they update the lighting on West 2nd with this renovation. The backdoor to the Standard was back there and didn't exactly feel like the safest part of the street because all the lights from 75 Public Square were out. Edited April 29, 20205 yr by smimes

May 21, 20205 yr So I hope you guys know me well enough to know that I'm not a downer... Overall, this project will be great and the building is beautiful..... But we neeeeeeeed equity downtown and this seems like a perfect sized project to give it a try Edited May 21, 20205 yr by YABO713
May 21, 20205 yr With a rooftop too! I think people are realizing you have to have some kind of outdoor space to compete with these rehabs and new construction projects... almost all of the new ones have roof space. I really wish K&D would have added rooftop space to the Halle Building...

June 18, 20204 yr It’s officially beginning!! Jersey barriers and cones for lane closures and to designate the construction area are being installed today! Edited June 18, 20204 yr by urbanetics_
June 18, 20204 yr This has always been one of my favorite downtown buildings. Hope they can do this without cutting down those trees.

I just wish there was more “green” and a little less concrete - and, of course, no Jersey Barriers. But still, Cleveland has a great Public Square.

It may be from 1974, but with a drive unit that is housed in a casting design that was used for many years It certainly looks like something from the 40s or even 30s. Maybe it stayed in production for 40 years. I’m sure someone one here would know for sure! My hovercraft is full of eels
July 30, 20204 yr I wouldn't be surprised if an elevator drive unit would be reused after a building is demolished, though.

March 8, 20214 yr Was walking my dog around town on Saturday and snapped this...sorry for the limited frame (pano going up...and dog uninterested in historic renovations) but they were working on the weekend, so seems like they aren't messing around PS- bonus dog pic at the Drury/BOE building... March 9, 20214 yr Excited about the project! The dog is beautiful - but the monument needs some work.
March 9, 20214 yr ^ yeah and it needs a new new pedestal that's for sure. the dog is perfect tho he's a keeper lol.

June 17, 20213 yr nice interiors. can someone update us with a pic or two of the facade work in front? that looks like some serious business. thx
June 17, 20213 yr Just walked by it. It still looks the same as the March 8 photo, above. Edited June 17, 20213 yr by gruver
June 24, 20213 yr Let there be light!!! 💡 🌃 It looks like they’re starting to install / test some of the new uplighting on the building! This transformation is going to be incredible and help liven up Public Square even more.
June 24, 20213 yr Looks great. Kinda classy and warm. Now if we could only do something about that godawful blank wall on the Standard building. Yeah, that's never gonna happen. Old Stone Church, 55 Public Square, 75 Public Square and the Standard building. Nice little urban tableau there if only the Standard did its part. That blank wall looming over the square...what was the architect thinking anyway?
June 24, 20213 yr 47 minutes ago, cadmen said: what was the architect thinking anyway? Most likely banking on another building going up next to it that'd block out any windows that they'd put in. Pretty standard on buildings around town. Edit: @Htsguy with the answer Edited June 24, 20213 yr by GISguy

June 29, 20213 yr ^ please don't tell me they are going to turn it into a revival of the limelight - who's old enough to know what that was? ha. but seriously, no doubt we all like the sound of this. be sure to let us know more as soon as you can! i mean, don't leave us hanging with a giant blank wall of suspense. 😂
