Thats the nice thing about CLEVELAND, because back in the day we was the 5th LARGEST CITY and later in 1950 we had a population around 900,000 people. And because of that LEGACY we have such great institutions like ART MUSEUM, WRHS, CLEVELAND ORCHESTRAL, METROPARKS, ect. Not to mention the great architecture like 925/UNION TRUST BUILDING, TERMINAL TOWER, PLAYHOUSE SQUARE THEATRES, and many others! And because we have SAVED MANY OF THESE GREAT BUILDINGS, we our now rebuilding CLEVELAND one project at a time! And combined with all of the great NEW CONSTRUCTION, it is one of the reasons most of the new/renovated apartment complexes have been completed in the Downtown Neighborhoods over the past couple of decades!

October 7, 20195 yr In that same lunch meeting last week in which I mentioned the Cross Country Mortgage HQ move, there was a mentioning of a high profile, historic building in CLE as an upcoming project to soon be announced. I probed the guy by saying is it by chance on Euclid and 9th Street? He said I can't confirm nor deny that, but it will be announced soon. I believe this outfit will be a partner with Millennia on this, which I would say is a very promising thing given their track record. Couple his comment with the fact that the $25m credit expires at the end of the year, I would expect an announcement any day or week now.

Can't wait.... Yes, part of this has to do when each city has grown the most. For example Cleveland was larger than Atlanta, the big Texas cities, Denver, Toronto, or Seattle until recent decades, and it shows. It was larger than Detroit until the 1910s and smaller than Cincinnati until the 1890s. Youngstown used to be larger than Akron, and I think that's reflected in Youngstown's having a better art muséum. Of course, there are exceptions. Edited October 11, 20195 yr by lafont

We have to repurpose the city that we've inherited for uses that are relevant in 2020, not keep hoping that banks are going to need massive lobbies in an era of online banking and atm's. Massive and opulent banking lobbies, department stores, multi-story industrial buildings- these are all things of the past that aren't coming back because technology and society have moved on. Get over it. Join us in the 21st Century.

However, not sure what the lobby had to do with the residencies above. I believe it's premature to state how "fun" living in a development will or might be, before it's complete, let alone fully KNOWING all the details of the development. I'm not highly knowledgeable on these sorts of tax credits, so maybe this is more common than I realize, but I really don't like the requirement in the TMUD bill that the TMUD tax credit has to be necessary for a project in order to be awarded. Millennia was talking the other day about how the TMUD credit is "necessary" for the Centennial development to get off the ground. Unfortunately, they HAVE to say that in order to contend for the credit. Seems like it just creates an incentive for large developers to whine and moan about how hard it is to get financing for their big project. I mean why WOULDN'T they try for the TMUD?
