No one even remotely acted this enthusiastically when Windows 10 came out. Remember when you had to pay a premium for an upgrade? It was usually worth it, too. Now, it's just forced on you at the most inconvenient time and it's free because Microsoft installs spyware urr, I'm sorry, "software updates" and clutters the entire UX with subtle and blatant advertisements for their other products. Windows 95 was awesome! I think I was 8 when it came out. All the cool kids had Windows 95 and got to play Mortal Kombat and Virtual Fighter (Virtual Fighter actually had 3-D graphics.) I got to type commands in DOS and play Oregon Train. Yaaay. Actually Oregon Train was pretty cool, too.
March 2, 20178 yr I follow a few really interesting photographers on Flickr. Jorge Guadalupe Lizárraga posts a lot of photos from the southwest, often New Mexico, that really show off the desolation of smaller towns and rural places (do you still call it rural if it's in the desert?). A lot of his work is on film. Unfortunately he has embedding disabled so I can't share any of them here, but click on his name a check him out. eyetwist also does a lot of really cool desert photography, often at night with long exposures. He does a lot of really cool stuff with "light painting" which is a technique where he uses a flashlight to "paint" an object during the long exposure. last room available. amboy, ca. 2015. by eyetwist, on Flickr christian coalition for youth. 2012. by eyetwist, on Flickr brad pitt ate here. ludlow, ca. 2014. by eyetwist, on Flickr

March 2, 20178 yr Ludlow, CA? That place looks like a complete ghost town. It's sad to see entire towns as relics when new large-scale communities are popping up because people want something entirely fresh and new. Ghost towns are essentially large-scale litter. I'm sure I'm not telling anyone here anything new, though.

I'm sure I'm not telling anyone here anything new, though. It started as a mining town, and was on Route 66. Mines play out, and Route 66 was deactivated. It's used for movies now.

September 26, 20177 yr Picnic on Headlands Beach (Lake County History Center) http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
September 26, 20177 yr ^hmmm...I seemed to discover an alternative story to this photo. Despite the caption that reads "Lake Erie Picnic" (on the back Headlands), the setting also seems to be the Pine Crest Hotel on Little Mountain in Kirtland Hills (which would seem more plausible judging by the elevation landscape in the distance). well, one of them is wrong :| http://wwwnews-heraldcom.blogspot.com/2012/11/hotels-on-summit-part-ii.html "The fourth and final hotel built on the summit was the Pinecrest Hotel. It was constructed in the late 1880's by a company headed by C.A. Avery. The Pinecrest Hotel was the most elegant and pretentious hotel on the 'summit'. It was three stories, t-shaped and surrounded by a magnificent veranda. Guest suites had individual baths attached, private balconies, open fireplaces, an electronic bell system, gas lighting, and elevators. A Rotunda, drawing room and state of the art fire plug hose system was in place. Western Union Telegraph and Post Office Express stations were on site. A laundry facility was another in-house perk. Cottages lined the main building and were of various sizes to accommodate guest needs. A house orchestra, billiards, bowling alleys, concert schedules and every amusement possible were provided. A livery was maintained and countryside drives offered." http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/

February 9, 20187 yr some personal history--this was Champion Jr. High School in Painesville, which was demolished before I was born. However, I recognize, at least so far, three people here who I remember. top row, 3rd man from the left was the principal of my high school, Jack Britt. Middle row, 4th woman in from the right was still a guidance counselor in my high school, Marguerite Lapham. Bottom row, the man 3rd from the left was my science teacher in the 8th grade, William Murdoch, None of these people are still living, as I doubt anyone in this picture is. Well, maybe the very youngest. All of this means is I'm really old :( http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
