Finger lickin' good!

WOW! I had no idea Louisville was this nice. I'm going to have to go there one of these days.

Captured Downtown, The Highlands, Old Louisville, and a pic from Butchertown/Irish Hill area. Definitely some of the best Lou has to offer. There's some other great areas, too including the parks. Where the distant skyline shots taken from Iroquois Park?

Yes, and Floyd's Knob.

Nice, not is same league as Cincy though.

Beautiful! I got to visit Louisville for just an afternoon this summer, and I thought it was pretty cool.  I was blown away by Old Louisville, but it is smaller than I envisioned.  The quality of the architecture and the awesomely unique layout of houses opening on to pedestrian only greens was fantastic, but it seemed the area was only about 5x5 blocks.  I definitely want to check out the Highlands and NuLu, which I hear is supposed to be the newest hot neighborhood for restaurants and bars.  I have to say though, I was not impressed with downtown Louisville at all on my quick visit.  It was completely dead with next to no street life or signs of activity.  The 21c was nice, but even the blocks around it were sleepy at best.  Next time I visit, I think I'll skip downtown and just explore the neighborhoods.

The whole of Old Louisville is about 8 x 9 blocks. It's amazingly compact and beautiful neighborhood. I agree about downtown though. I rarely have reason to venture down there.

Downtown can be a bit sleepy. Fourth Street Live did a lot for that former dead mall, and the new Center City project to the east of it will really clean up much of east downtown. But unless you are along Third in the western Museum Row or near the bridge and stadium - downtown is sleepy. It lost a lot of structures to parking lots - I have a book that has some fantastic aerials taken in the 1940's through the 1970's and the amount of loss is just staggering.

There is a lot going for it, other than Center City. It's been ranked as one of the best cycling cities in America, with a very progressive mayor, has good projects ongoing in NuLu/East Market, along the river and in Portland. But it struggles in the west end, it's inner-ring suburbs and in its industrial corridors.
