I think it would be cool to add a addition like the The Brunson

Building across from The Atlas. Maybe a little more height. The historic side could stay apartments, while the glass addition with balconies would be condos with rooftop pool for all residents to use.

No, we need to stop building like that.

The sidewalk in front of the historic Madison's & White-Haines buildings has started to reopen now that the storefronts are complete. A couple photos of 100 N High as well, including from Pearl on

  • I took a walk around the project this morning. Crews were removing barriers on High St and pedestrians will be able to use the entire sidewalk. There looks to be protective scaffolding along the 15 st

The original design for the north market parking lot would look amazing in this spot. Maybe someday someone will bring something great. That lot is big enough for two separate buildings. If all of what Edwards is building downtown is successful maybe he will expand down high and take over the atlas and that lot.

Looks like density! The Rhodes also really working this angle.

I could really see the city redeveloping this 100 year old parking garage in the future. Hopefully being mixed use if it ever happens.

The majority of front st needs redone and hopefully once downtown parking lots start to fill in with density. It pushes over to don’t. The city has so much potential to be something great downtown and hopefully it happens.

Front St might as well be called the parking garage district.

They just renovated that garage a few short years ago. I'm sure it will be around for a while.

5 massive parking garages and one entire surface block within a 4 block radius on Front Street. SMH

Well I don't know if I'd call the second one from the bottom massive, but yeah, I get your point.

This photo really shows what a missed opportunity the Nicholas is along Long St ... A solid block of blank wall disconnecting the cluster of historic storefronts seen here from High St and preventing a continuous pedestrian focused experience at the street level. For all the good it's doing as retail finally fills in on Gay and High, it's a shame this side of the project was so neglected. It absolutely kills the street vibe and limits its potential IMO

should be retail all along that side

And it should have looked more like the other buildings along the street. There was no reason the parking couldn’t have been hidden behind some retail

Whoa, I'm really liking the presence of it all the way from Rich St, with Hilton in the background.

That’s a great view that I don’t think I have seen. It really does show up and that’s awesome. Hopefully it works and the progress keeps going in the area. There are so many parking lots within a few blocks of there.

Looks great, hopefully in a few years will be mostly hidden from this view, when those lots fill in

Does anyone know if there are any proposals for any of the lots in this picture?

The parking garage in the middle right had a proposal years ago, didn’t seem to go anywhere.

The building behind the Atlas had a proposal for a 14 story just a few months ago, but it is no longer on that developers website, so I doubt it is happening.

The parking lot along Gay St had renderings for future possibilities and then the other half of that lot would be park/greenery. I think Edwards owns that lot, so there is a higher chance it could happen.

They sure are taking their time with the facade. Geez. I love this building so much though in terms of its size. We need about 10 more of these throughout downtown.

I didn't get a picture but they are remodeling the corner of the building at Gay and Pearl behind the French restaurant.  Anyone know what their plan is?

Stopped at the light at Long & High

I think the street is going to be activated so maybe part of that?

In the article for Chef Dalton’s New Mexican restaurant, they say his patio will spill onto pearl:

“Plans, which are subject to change, call for a 60-seat eatery with patio space spilling onto Pearl Street behind, enlivening what long has been a desolate stretch of alley, especially after nightfall. Plans call for the alley to become pedestrian-oriented as the streetscape along Gay Street from Front to Fourth streets is revamped during the coming years by the Capital Line project, an effort by Edwards and Downtown Columbus Inc.”

I’m so excited about this area and what it will look like 5-10 years from now

I tried to find some permits, but didn’t really see anything.

Could it be as simple as them combining that building into the back of 72-80 n high, which is the Mexican restaurant location? It wouldn’t make sense to do that, but who knows

I also find it hilarious how outdated google street view is for gay st. It makes it look like everything is empty and desolate.

This building would make really cool apartments or condos. Especially with the large arched windows at the top!

Was able to find this from December 2024, but the city still hasn’t fixed the pages so there wasn’t any meeting materials. They have owned that building since 1999. I’m guessing it is owned by Day Companies

Here is another permit for 24 E Gay. I have no idea what they are doing ha.

Looks like they are reconfiguring behind the house utility areas which will probably result in smaller retail spaces in that building.

Honestly not always a bad thing. That area needs some small under 1,000 sqft retail space.

Would love to see a photo of the atrium in the old condo building. There are so many units up for sale right now, with mostly old pictures showing an empty parking lot.

I look at that building every day from my office window and didn't realize the crane was gone until I read your comment...
