Drones delivering beer:

RC quadcopters are pretty cool. My older brother is into RC vehicles like this. He loves talking about how the technology has improved since we were kids.

Funny enough if the FAA gets its way you'll soon have to spend thousands on an aviation license to fly a commercial quadcopter. A lobbyist group somewhere is smiling right now.

The FAA wants you to have a pilot's license to fly commercial drones

If you're planning to shoot your next movie using a drone, beware: you may need to meet some stringent conditions to stay in the Federal Aviation Administration's good books. Sources tell the Wall Street Journal that the agency will propose commercial drone rules that require a conventional pilot's license. Yes, you may need to have flown manned aircraft for dozens of hours to even think of controlling a UAV for cash.

This is big news.  Using drones to fly up and down the aisles in a warehouse to scan all bar codes in an aisle in just a minute or so.  That currently takes maybe 20 minutes per aisle, depending on the situation.  This means they'll be able to keep a much tighter grip on what is in the inventory.  So less waste and fewer billing issues.

Woman complains about drone filming her sunbathing in her own back yard...it is incidents like this that are going to get drones banned. I can definitely foresee small towns and cities passing drone bans...people will have to apply for a permit to photograph a specific subject.

They should have a minimum height requirement when flying over private property, say 200'

If the drone was one of the standard consumer types, it's unlikely that the photographer would have been able to get any scandalous photos of the woman. The camera is way too wide angle for that.

I live in a no-fly zone for serious drones (too close to the White House); but I did buy a couple of toy drones for the grandkids' Christmas. Confession: I'm having so much fun, the kids may never see them.

Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

Not sure if I should admit it or not but I've owned around 8 different drones in the past 3 or 4 years.
