It's funny how over you get of Miami Beach when you live in the area. It's a giant tourist trap with hotels that have been redone in the last ten years. Locals just laugh at the obsession.

It's the only place in Miami that is truly urban. Downtown Miami is getting better but it's still pretty lifeless/soulless. Miami Beach, as touristy as it may be, is the exact reason those "locals" moved to Miami. It is a fun place that is one of only a handful of spots in Florida that has actual history and isn't mindless, awful sprawl that people move to in preparation to die and refer to it as "retirement."

These pictures are fantastic. I need to get back at some point. I've spent a total of 1 day there in the last 4 or 5 years which isn't enough.

I love Miami Beach, even though I worry that it may be underwater eventually. It would be great if it had a rail connection to Miami.

Beautiful. I have a book about the battle to preserve the Art Deco hotels in the early 1980's. Apparently not everyone appreciated the architecture at that time.

Wow, that is a lot of art deco! Nice tour!

what no clevelander??  ?

seeing mb always make me curious to visit other deco hotspots, especially that town in northern new zeeland.

what no clevelander??  ?

The 14th picture is the Clevelander.

I want to hang out here. I'll take my IROC.

I really need to visit Miami and Miami Beach! Looks like an amazing place.
