I was shocked to see a large building had been demolished on the town square, but looking at Streetview it looked like it was a mid-20th century hotel that did not really fit in anyway.

I hope so too.

I stayed at the Curtiss Inn when riding in GOBA seven or eight years ago.  It was nothing special.  In fact, it was clearly a low-budget operation.  The building itself was a big, fat architectural zero.  But at least it was brick, and fit in with other buildings on the historic square.

 

The new Curtiss Inn will apparently look like this:

Thanks for the link. The new building looks okay, but still leaves a lot of empty space in the back. I suppose that will be a parking lot.
