Posted January 21, 201510 yr Hello again, UrbanOhio. Founded in 1818, Miamisburg is much older than many American suburbs, especially where I grew up. In fact, Texas was Indian country and a few Spanish missions and pirate outposts in 1818. Like Dayton, it was devastated by a massive flood in 1913 and lost a lot of building stock. Fresh snow. First I thought I'd just go to the park and take a few shots. Then I decided to walk around downtown. January 21, 201510 yr Thanks for the tour! I haven't been to Miamisburg yet but I can see there is some stuff worth checking out there.
January 21, 201510 yr Miamisburg and Centerville both have decent downtown areas, in spite of generally being suburbs that grew up with Dayton rather than true satellite cities near a larger one (like Hamilton, which ColDayMan showed me around at night this weekend and I will cover). They at least have a meaningful downtown/town center, unlike some others like Kettering and Huber Heights. Not pictured in this thread but also in Miamisburg is the largest Adena mound in Ohio. The second-largest is also in the Dayton area, in Enon to the east-northeast about halfway to Springfield. It's located right in the middle of a quiet neighborhood. Not much terribly spectacular to see in Enon itself. It's like a more rural Kettering really. I do kind of like the new library building, for a modern one.
