Aren't they're going to shut the Q down again this summer with the plan to have things finished up by the start of next NBA season??

Yes! That is the plan.

So we’re gonna just sit here and pretend that GSW doesn’t play in the 8th largest media market and the Cavs play in the 19th? We’re gonna sit here and pretend like the economics are the same in both m

Just in time for Zion!

The old version of the Q really looks outdated as this update comes together.  Looking good so far.

The contrast between the older looking Q and the modern, crisp, clean lines of the glass looks amazing. I initially had my hesitations about this project, but it's coming along fantastically.

Should make a good impression when the All-Star Game comes to town!

This will be a magnet for birds. Gonna need a team to pick them up each morning. Looks beautiful though.

It’s hard to get excited about this project, knowing how much of the cost will be picked up by the city and the county.

Are there any updated projections for the costs, and ticket tax revenue now that playoffs seem unlikely?

^I believe the original cost estimate was 140 million with the public contribution being 70 mil.  I think the total cost has increased due to extras and is now 185 mil with the Cavs picking up the additional 45 mil.

The new Q has a much more sophisticated, finished look - worth every penny.

Remember: It's the Year of the Snake

I just wish they would do gateway plaza, the part of the Q that faces Progressive Field. When the All-Star game comes they'll be using every inch of the Q and the gateway plaza section looks extremely outdated with that tiny video screen.

Not too important for the NBA allstar game considering the game takes place in February. But, for the MLB allstar game...........

It should look great lit up at night showing off the details in the atrium. For now I just see a glass box.

The Q is going to look amazing - it will really give the city an even more “progressive” look in the Gateway district - coupled with the more open look at the baseball park and The Beacon’s eventual overlooking modern shimmer - too say nothing of the experience inside the venue itself.  I think this project is definitely worth every penny, especially considering the many years of NBA and special events to come.

This is from a couple of days ago, but they're starting to put the glass up on the south side of the Q (the side that faces Progressive Field).

The glass facade that hugs the sidewalk will help create a nice walled in corridor look to the street that wasn't there previously with the old building. Hopefully the Nucleus project will do something similar on the other side of the street to compliment the look.

This is exactly what a bed tax is supposed to be used for.

Who says we don't have lots of construction cranes downtown. I count six right here!

I like shiny things...  ?

KJP - Now that's funny.  I may need to pull back on my crane comments given this pic.  I must say that I can't remember Cleveland having this much construction.

Best part of the remodel, in my opinion: Saucy Brew Works opening inside

I count seven.

There is a blue one on the inside

And I see four cranes in the down position, so there! ?

More updates and blue skies! They're starting to put up branding on the NE corner. Also Discount Drug signage is up on the plaza facing entrance.

And a what if shot, considering all the buzz with Nucleus today ?

Looking great!  The change is going to be dramatic.

Looks good. My only concern is how reflective the glass is. All the renderings have shown a  more transparent view of the interior elements. It also appears the "Quicken Loans Arena" is a new font

@dave2017 I noticed that too- a much more clean, modern looking font.  I like it!

Never heard of that site. Considering how much I overdose on this site, I haven't had the time to peruse other urban development sites. ?

I think most of the renderings show it around dusk/night (going from mental memory here lol) it'll really 'pop' at night.

It does kind of act as a mirror at the moment maybe a building shadow of nucleus would fix this ?

Nothing really new in this article, but it feels nice to be noticed in another construction forum.?

I hadn't seen the SkyRiseCities site before but it was really cool to see a Cleveland article right next to cities like Dallas, Miami and Canton/Guangzhou.

Though the Q's glass panels are very mirror-like at the moment, I really like their steel blue tones-  I think if Nucleus was dressed in that color, it would be really sharp.  I agree with GISguy -  I'm really looking forward to seeing the new Q when it's lit up at night - that should be a great look.

i drove by the Arena today..  it was beautiful..  I really like how its turning out.  That area will look amazing once Nucleus is in too

I really like the idea of NuCLEus finishing up right around NBA All-Star Weekend, February 2022. That along with the Q is gonna be great for CLE's public image. Any idea how long the construction period is going to last? Can we leave a couple crane's in the air for good measure? That's roughly 2.5 years from this August.

Same angle as above with the new sign installation, but I haven't added a pic in a while.... so there

It doesn't appear "QUICKEN LOANS" will fit in one line.  Intrigued to see it finished. Btw here is the new Discount Drug Mart entrance signage

The Rocket Mortgage sub-brand rolled out a new, more streamlined logo and typeface in January. The 'Q' and 'U' put up so far suggests that the parent company brand is following suit, although nothing's been announced yet.

Discount Drug Mart entrance on Quicken Loans Arena. Yeah...corporate sponsorship has gone way too far lol. Between this and Columbus' Big Lots Arena, Ohio has some utterly crappy and cheap embarrassing sponsored arena names.

Like the way the arena renovation looks, though!
