Posted March 6, 201510 yr Shadyside, Ohio Village Population: 3,736 Land Area: 1.01 square miles Population Density: 3,699 / square mile Wheeling, WV Metro Population: 147,950 Here is Shadyside. It's about 15 minutes from Wheeling, WV. I took these in the summer of 2013 and there is an interesting story to the town. On June 14, 1990 a strong storm produced 3 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. The flash flood was so intense that there were reports of a wall of water (varying from 10-30 feet high) rushing through the canyon and killing 26 people. In my senior year in engineering we analyzed the data from the storm. Pretty fascinating stuff (and scary). There was no way for the residents to evacuate and many more were left homeless after the storm. You'll see how steep the hillsides are in these photos and realize how the water could build so quickly to sweep through the town. P6239821 by ryanlammi, on Flickr We'll start off downtown. March 6, 201510 yr Custom Killing! Wow sounds much better than the generic killing offered by the creek.
March 7, 201510 yr That whole landscape is just beautiful. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 7, 201510 yr Thanks for the photos. I have never thought much of Shadyside, perhaps because I am distracted by their gritty urban neighbor to the north (Bellaire). Sorry to hear about the flood and deaths.
