Posted March 19, 201510 yr (I finally added the earlier pictures, posted below this first set.) I was in Louisville for a conference last month during an unusually snowy (6 inches) and cold (0 one morning) stretch for the city. I was mostly downtown -- with a 23rd floor view looking west over the river -- but also had a bus tour through Portland and other west side neighborhoods. This thread also will include some pictures from last spring of downtown and Bardstown Road on the east side. Out my window at the Galt House just after check-in ... ... and a couple hours later Another day/night view: Just to make sure I know where I am Reflections Just east of downtown, headed to ... Peerless distillery Off to the neighborhoods and shotgun houses, etc. On Broadway looking south toward Muhammad Ali Boulevard at the site of a long-gone big tobacco warehouse. The site is now set to become a "food port" with various processing and distribution businesses for local food Back at the hotel, looking down toward the Fourth Street Live entertainment district More downtown and river shots from above Cold morning Giant bat I liked this church Conference meeting room (talking about food hubs) One of the two connected towers of the Galt House hotel Assorted downtown sights Broadway, looking west Aegon Center 2014 shots: Nice diner Bardstown Road is delightful on a sunny spring Saturday Whimsical wife: Why Louisville? Sidestreet shotguns Another view I like how a lot of the storefronts are appended to the road's former residential character (like parts of High Street across from OSU) Vintage residential towers on some side streets Downtown and in the neighborhoods, Louisville has fun with its bike racks Golden David and Hillerich & Bradsby stand sentry at different parts on Main Street downtown Cast-iron district Wife on phone at Louisville Slugger museum Bat autograph of her childhood idol, with whom she danced at her bachelorette party in 1987 Broadway at 4th Brown Hotel Shotguns in need of TLC north of downtown Back on Bardstown Road -- drinks at the Holy Grale, a former church Nice little neighborhood west of Bardstown Road Lotsa shotguns And double shotguns Shotguns soon give way to Victorians

March 20, 201510 yr Thanks for the tour! For some reason, I'm very intrigued by Louisville. I didn't find their downtown to be very vibrant on a quick visit last week, but I also didn't see a lot of the areas or views shown here. I definitely need to get back and give the city more of a thorough exploration.
