If you are thinking about getting some cycling gloves, I give you a few good reasons to get some.

So the handle bar tape came loose and you are looking for an easy way to fix it? What do you use?

Thanks for the videos!  I need to get some gloves.

Is this page for urban cycling, recreational cycling or both? I handle my cycling experiences very differently depending on where I am and what my purpose is.

I hope this doesn't sound confrontational, but CyclingExplorer is using this thread to drive traffic to his own YouTube page/videos.  Is that OK?

I'm sorry OHSnap but no one else is posting.  My intent to to share experiences, some which people will agree with while others they will not.

Here is an example why you need a helmet:

I'd recommend for someone that has begun cycling and has turned into a frequent and regular rider should try out weaning themselves off of a gel seat. Develop those undercarriage muscles (assuming there are not other complicating factors). When I get on a gel seat I feel like my butt is floating all over the place (and can get out of hand combined with seat post suspension). Gel seats also retain heat in an area that in peak season I'd like to have more air flow. When the appropriate muscles have developed you will probably come to find the more aggressive looking seats perfectly comfortable. You'll also gain efficiency in your leg strokes as you're not fighting against the thicker seat.

My stepfather likes to use his weightlifting gloves as well, but I prefer using foam handlebar tape in lieu of gloves that provides almost all of the benefits of gloves minus crash protection and to some degree grip in dry non-sweaty conditions, but doesn't give you more weird suntan lines on your body like my personal favorite the helmet strap sideburn tan.

I find that most of the chatter surrounding bicycling equipment and technique *is* the hobby for those who engage in such chatter.  Just like gear heads who play guitar, are into photography, or whatever.  They want a lot of attention and actually getting out there and doing the hobby in silence doesn't get them the attention they crave.
