Gomez Plain Dealer Reporter The high-tech hopes of downtown Cleveland are about to take center stage in the city's Theater District. The eTech Hatchery will open on Star Plaza (East 13th Street and Euclid Avenue) next month in a kiosk that, until December, had been used to sell discounted show tickets. Tom Einhouse, executive vice president of the Theater District Development Corp., will announce the plans Thursday evening at the Idea Center as part of a Red Room Dialogues event. The Hatchery's goal: Increased exposure for fledgling technology companies. And since the tiny building is made of clear, glass walls, exposure -- at least aesthetically -- is all but guaranteed. February 22, 200619 yr Is this just incubator space, or something that is supposed to be interactive? I think that working in that space would feel a bit like working in a fish bowl.
February 22, 200619 yr After reading this little blurb, I'm not sure the "czar" even knows what is going on with this! It just sounds bizarre and at least the way that this article is written, it leaves you with the thought that this will lead to nothing. I'm hopeful they didn't know the details yet.
February 23, 200619 yr Interesting...I've been wondering what the plan were for this structure...and I guess I'm still left wondering! I'll see if I can get some more info on it...
February 23, 200619 yr I think it sounds very intriguing. Maybe they're on to something. There's nothing like instigating collaboration. Let's see what happens. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck

February 23, 200619 yr any body want to take bets on how long it takes for one of these windows to get broken out once they put some computer equipment and food in there? hopefully this will lead to better use of the jumbo screens. playhouse square took out $3 million for these at 8% interest. Let's get them to use.
February 23, 200619 yr After reading the full report on this hatchery, it does sound like a good thing. It certainly is better than what I was expecting to see in that space. I was ready to see the next coffee /baked good store open its doors there - not that I'm against those of course.
January 15, 200718 yr Any ideas on why this space has been empty for 4 or 5 months, with no medntion of new tenants? are there no tech companies that want this exposure or did the experiment not work? i would think people would line up to have this exposure downtown, even if it was only a satellite office space.
