Just a few shots from these two small towns I stopped in last May. Somerset was the original county seat of Perry County, and New Lexington is the current seat.

 

Somerset has a population of 1,481.

 

This is the old Perry County Courthouse, built in 1829 it has been Somerset village hall since the county seat moved to New Lexington in 1857

In the middle of the town square is a statue of Civil War general Philip Sheridan, who grew up in Somerset
