I was in Nashville in early May while my band played a show there. I didn't have a ton of time to get out and take photos, but here's what I got...

The Gulch is essentially The Banks on steroids (without those pesky hight restrictions):

There are still a lot of smaller warehousey buildings on the periphery, creating an interesting juxtaposition:

A nice coffee shop was hidden inside of one of the nondescript warehouses in the last photo:

The entire south has tons of those small industrial buildings close to their downtowns.  You don't find similar buildings in the north anywhere close to the downtowns.

Stunning photos.  And MONELL'S!!!

These sorts of buildings but right up to the downtowns of the southern cities...it's tough to exaggerate just how small so many of them were in 1900 or even 1950.

sheesh, all these big back to the city movement developments look alike. that said, so what?! its so nice to see nashville blooming with this kind of stuff as anywhere. i saw some great music and have fond memories, but frankly the city was a very sleepy place when i was in school there briefly in the 1980s. from this thread and other sources you hear about its clearly a lot more happenin now for sure.

They look the same, inside and out.  The "independent" restaurants and craft breweries around the country are all looking and tasting the exact same.
