This steam locomotive which was part of a fleet that once criss-crossed northern Ohio between Chicago and Buffalo, will be in Toledo, Sandusky, Berea, Cleveland tomorrow (July 22). Not sure if it will be led by a diesel or under its own power.

Great photo location will be the Maumee River bridge near union terminal, the Sandusky Bay bridge, and the big bridge south of downtown Cleveland as viewed from Tremont. Will also go through University Circle. People will post the train's progress here:

Here it is going through Bryan, OH. It got stopped in Toledo for servicing at 2:30 pm. It departed Toledo at 4 pm and is operating under steam power with no diesel assistance at speeds of 40-50 mph. So it will be in Cleveland at 6-7 pm and spend the night at Rockport Yard next to I-480 by the airport. That means it will go through Tremont and University Circle tomorrow.

It looks like you were in my neck of the woods today, KJP!  Unfortunately, I was on a train about 8 miles north of there approaching Montpelier and was unable to see the 765.  It is great that she gets to spend the night in the Cleveland area tonight, as she was no stranger to that city during her working career!

A story about the milepost pictured in your image: many years ago Conrail had used a bulldozer to push over all of the old, cast concrete mileposts in the Bryan, Ohio area.  My brother and I decided that the old 342 Milepost would look much better in our backyard than in the weeds staring up at the sky, so we transplanted to my mom's Peony garden.  It is there to this day.

BTW it is scheduled to depart Rockport Yard next to I-480 by the airport anytime between 7-11 am today (as soon as there is a window in NS freight traffic) and head northeast to Ashtabula via Linndale, Tremont, along the Red Line through University Circle and Windermere in East Cleveland, Euclid, Mentor, Painesville and Madison.

The train's crew reports its location and if it is stopped waiting for other rail traffic here:

FYI, she's waiting for rail traffic near downtown Cleveland (big bridge below the new Inner Belt bridges):

Best photo I've seen, shot by a young man in Lakewood named Ashley Yeasto Loughlin...

^ Fantastic picture. I love the LRT train in the background. (Although based on the locomotive, it's weird to see a Breda LRV running on the Shaker Line and not a Kuhlman Peter Witt car.)

That's quite a train!  I didn't realize it would be pulling so much, including it's own coal supply!  Wish I would have had a chance to see it in person.

It's running fan trips this weekend between Youngstown and Ashtabula. And it will come back through Cleveland again on Monday -- apparently via Lakewood Bay Village this time.
