Good idea. Was just thinking about how we should organize one. As for me, I unfortuantely won't be able to do a day in August most likely. I'd be free Sept 1-9th though.

Any interest in checking out one of the new locations in Flats East bank?

Or maybe lunch at Shooters and admiring FEB from across the water...?

^ Agreed. Also I'm not sure what places are currently open during lunch time. Is Alley Cat?

Is Heinen's already too cliche?

^ I'm always down for Heinen's, but it's pretty busy and noisy during lunch time so I'm not sure it'd be great for a meet up lunch

"Is Heinen's already too cliche?"

If anyone thinks that, they need to remember how many *decades* that gorgeous space was mothballed. Sure, it's popular but I hope Cleveland never gets to the point where "pfft... it's a grocery store with a pretty ceiling".

As far as a meet-up, the first floor is a bit hectic but the second floor is a little more sedate and conducive to conversation with high-top tables, etc.

I'd be up for a meeting. Heinen's is perfect as it's only a short walk for me to get there.

One day I will make one of these lunches. Perhaps now is the time.

So... this never really went anywhere. Seems it's been a while since the last CLE meetup (so long in fact that there hasn't been one since I moved back in Cleveland).

How about we set something up for an evening during an upcoming week? I personally would prefer a happy hour or evening meet up as opposed to a lunch time one. I can set up a Doodle to gauge availability if there's interest.

Can you have it in Chicago?

?

Depending on timing, I might be able to attend either lunch or happy hour but it's always tentative for me. I know there are some who are only available for lunch due to afterwork/family commitments... or as someone once said:

Forumer: "Honey, I was going to go out to happy hour tomorrow - is that okay?"

Spouse: "Happy hour? Um, okay - where and with who?"

Forumer: "Well just somewhere downtown, with some guys I met... well, I haven't really *met* them... but they're on the internet, y'know..."

Spouse: "Uhh, no - I don't know."

Forumer: "I'm sure they're nice in person - I mean the one guy always posts photos of Meryl Streep and Joan Crawford, and then the one Admin always posts photos of axes and hatchets..."

Spouse: (disapproving scowl)

;-)

Lunch actually works well for me now.  I work most evenings.

Okay, let's give this a go. If you are interested in attending a Cleveland UO meetup in the next few weeks, please fill out the Doodle linked below with your UO username and your available dates and times. We can then figure out which time works the best for the most people and then pick a place to go (preferably downtown or near east/west sides).

Bump. 5 responses so far. We can do better than that.

And sorry for the excessively long Doodle calendar. But considering everyone's schedules, I feel like it's better to have more options than fewer. I'll take a look at it early next week to see where we are and can hopefully nail down a time.

Count me in...  I've wanted to come for the last few years (!) but haven't been able to.  Tuesdays work best for me during the week.

Great! Could you add that on here: http://doodle.com/poll/6kxmpmacdb7kdn4d?

answered. I so often just click on notifications from my email, I don't see new topics (or older ones that are resurrected that I don't have set to "notify.")

With 8 votes, the winner is Monday, November 16 at 12:00pm! Unless someone has an objection, let's plan it for that time.

Now for the hard part-- picking the location. Let's do somewhere downtown. Does anyone have any good suggestions? I'm trying to think of places that are good for groups. Has anyone been to Kafeteria?

I just ran across this post ... but I should be able to make it! It's on the calendar. ;-)

Booooo.....  I'll wave from Luxembourg.

I haven't, but I'm flexible, so I say it sounds fine to me.

I've been to Kafeteria quite a few times - they have a pretty good salad bar and grab/go foods - some of the prep stations get backed up but never ridiculously so. My suggestion - I can get there a little before noon and grab a table so everyone attending can just grab lunch first and find our spot. It'll be easier that way than meeting in the lobby, then trying to find a larger table, etc.

I should be able to make this one.

Sounds good. Thanks, Mayday.

So, Kafeteria at 200 Public Square at 12:00pm on Monday, November 16th.

It looks like 10 people said they could go, but if you didn't respond and are able to go, please come out!

I work upstairs and I will try to stop down at least for a bit.

A reminder for today's lunch meetup - I'll grab a table on the southern end; as you exit the checkout area, turn left toward Euclid Avenue.

Perfect. See everyone there!

Not going to be able to break away today. Stuck working from home in Lakewood. See you next time.

Thought I would be able to break away today. But I cannot. Sorry.

Same here, tried to come but too much work today.  Have fun!  Kafeteria rocks.

Well, so is anyone actually here? Lol

Yes, there are 4 of us by the cash register. Look for the urban Ohio tablet screen on our table! :-)
