I wonder if they plan on having a rooftop bar similar to Vaso at bridge park in Dublin. No articles on the project mentioned it. They are planning on a rooftop bar - their signing package, which was heard at the downtown commission meeting last month, included a couple of signs for it:

Kinda sucks it’s a similar sounding name to Clevelands newest tower. I hope someone will take over the space Juniper left.

Also, curious down vote. Haven't see that in a minute and all because someone comments that they wish the name was different than another building in the state? Seems to be a legitimate thought. Is there a legit reason for a down vote, was it a mistake, or just some petty CLE vs CMH rivalry? Welcome 614.

I thought there was no point to say it sucks due to a Cleveland building being the same name. If there was no cruel intent thats fine, and no downvote needed and ill take it back, but seems odd that a restaurant name would spark that much angst.

October 8, 20204 yr ^Agreed! ? The new AC Hotel is looking really good! Definitely a great addition to the area.
October 9, 20204 yr Awesome! I think this project, of all the projects in and around downtown Columbus over the years, has been the one project that has surpassed my expectations. Its truly turned out to be a very cool project, that actually has had more of an impact on the look and feel of the AD than i ever expected. The view of the AC coming in from the west in 670 is simply awesome. Couldn't be happier to be more wrong about this particular project. Cant wait to see the finished product.

Not to mention the fact that they could end up actually building out the office component which would work towards further closing the gap between the new chipotle building/garage and park street.

It really will help the streetscape and the "feel" of the street. I commend them for this and hope that other developers try and take a similar approach if possible and when appropriate. February 8, 20214 yr They need to fix that fence in the first picture. I wonder when AC will be opening. I’m assuming spring time but haven’t heard.
February 8, 20214 yr The whole cap needs to be redone on the pedestrian side off high. It is falling apart. It is an eye sore. And a safety Hazard.
February 10, 20214 yr I *LOVE* the porte cochere/entrance through the old warehouse facade. They really did a great job incorporating the existing buildings to make a really cool, well-integrated project. I'm excited to see the interior.
May 16, 20214 yr Author AC Hotel Downtown to Feature Rooftop Bar & Restaurant Add another in the rooftop bar and patio column for Columbus. Lumin SkyBar will open this summer atop the eighth floor of the new AC Hotel Downtown at 517 Park St. Spanish-style tapas, craft cocktails and wine will be highlights of the menu. “AC Hotels take European and Spanish inspiration, as the founder and president of the brand is from Spain,” says Food & Beverage Manager Makenzie Skinner. “Lumin takes that influence throughout décor and small plates and shareables in a tapas style.” More below: https://www.columbusunderground.com/ac-hotel-downtown-to-feature-rooftop-bar-sp1 "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers

May 17, 20214 yr There are some infrastructure improvements coming to that area for the Chipotle HQ, AC Hotel, and Market Tower. Burying the power lines will probably be included, right?
May 17, 20214 yr Really loving the nearly-finished product here. Keeping that facade proved to be a big win for the project and overall street presence. Now, heres to hoping the office component behind the hotel moves forward. My only hope is a bit more glass as it fronts 670.. hoping for curtain-wall build.

It really does look so much better with the 30 foot setback. It helps the street presence and also makes the building less bulky and foreboding looking than it might have been. And it also makes the building unique. What would be really cool is if the office component took a page from this building and they incorporated some brick and stone at the base to match this one, along with a big more glass as you mentioned. Also any similar treatment with a parking garage-brick it up! They could almost make small this area look like a mini-district of it's own. And who knows?-they could always add residential to the office part and expand it(upwards!)and go after those credits available for 15 plus floors...just saying and all... the views would be great and so close to so much! :) Mixed use would be a much better bet than just office-don't want those eggs all in one basket. And make the office floors so some of them can be converted to other uses if needed. It would be wise to make this combined project as diverse and mixed use as possible IMO. Take a page from Gravity. Also this makes it much easier to describe. "what hotel was that?" "It was the gray one with the old brick buildings built into the base" instantly distinguished as opposed to "the gray box one." ????? Edited May 18, 20214 yr by Toddguy

May 19, 20214 yr It is pretty remarkable how many really nice rooftop restaurants we have now in the span of just like 2 years. Town Hall/Moxy, Lincoln Social, Goodale Station, Lumin, and soon Hilton II, and whatever they will call it over in Franklinton.....and I'm sure some more to come....

The AC Hotel Columbus at Park and Spruce is officially opening for business today. Business First had something about that plus a photo slideshow that mostly focused on the views from the rooftop Lumin Sky Bar: https://www.bizjournals.com/columbus/news/2021/06/03/the-view-of-and-from-the-ac-hotels-rooftop-rest.html Southward view from the rooftop Lumin Sky Bar. Part of the Arena District of the rest of downtown is visible. That's the existing North Market in the foreground across Park Street from the new hotel: This is the eastward view from the rooftop bar. The Hilton 2.0 construction is visible in the center. The existing North Market parking lot will (hopefully) become the construction site of the North Market Tower project in the near future: The northward view has a very nice overview of Goodale Park past I-670:
February 18, 20223 yr Anybody heard when Corso plans to open the couple places in the bottom of the AC? Those will really help link the Arena District to the Short North. Also I just want to see Park St. make a comback to its 2016 days when it was the #1 place to go out in the city. It would be cool to have these open around the same time as the ground floor restaurant at the Hilton.
