A friend of mine was viewing a photo thread on UO.  It was a a thread about Hughes HS, and I was loving it...as was he (UCPlanner).  So I joined up and its been downhill ever since

You kids know how I love to dig up old and popular topics about the forum.  I love going down memory lane!    As we enter a new decade, I want to thank the HNIC @ColDayMan , the HBIC @MayDay

  • UO has been a teenager for a while now.  It's old enough to drive, but won't, because it values urban walkability and public transit!

  • Was linked a few times on the now-defunct ColumbusUnderground discussion boards.  I migrated here from there gradually as those boards were marginalized, abandoned, and ultimately shuttered, like a br

Whatever...  Who are these real estate agents to come in and just "rebrand" the area?  This ain't the suburbs.

This was my introduction to Urbanohio. (I was the real estate agent by the way)  Now here we are almost 2 years later, still upsetting people from time to time, but loving the site.

I was putting together an Ohio trivia contest/quiz - the Cleveland and Cincinnati photo trivia threads sucked me in, now UO is a daily site for me.

Googled ohio and was led here

^

well, this is as good a place as any to learn about urban Ohio (and sometimes a bit about rural Ohio too)

For me it was that old Cincinnati Uprise site. I think I was googling "Dayton" and somehow was led to that site as it had some Dayton content on it.

Searching for pics of downtown Middletown.

Searching for pics of downtown Middletown.

Only to find a thread completely bashing the city...

Yeah, I was Googling something related to downtown Cleveland and was led here. This place has become required reading for me for news and analysis of anything related to the three C's.

I got strong-armed into joining by Hayward and ColDayMan.

Or not... as the case may be.

Try "or not."

friend of mine who is pretty involved in the city of Cleveland let me know about it. I checked it out for a while, and i love the intelligent discourse. Refreshing to say the least!

geez "intelligent discourse"....i'm starting to sound like an English Prof! Yikes! Where is the Dumb and Dumber DVD?

Columbus Underground was where I first heard about this site.

i found uo in summer '04 after getting especially disgusted with the poorly moderated cleveland.com one day. i think x may have linked it there.

So does nofunk mean you're from New Orleans, or do you hate bass & drums? ;-)

I can't remember exactly.  I think I found it when I was looking into downtown condos.

i found it because i saw all these pictures of Queen City Center Phase II on either emporis or skyscraperpage and I wanted all the information i could find about it and i found the link attached to one of the pictures

All right, so the real story:

I was down in Cincy a couple of weekends ago, ColDayMan was showing us around the city, and this site kept coming up in conversation throughout the day. Hayward, at least, suggested a few times that I join the site. So I did.

The other story had more intrigue though.  :-P

I found it on cincinnati-transit.net

I was doing some research on the Cincy Subway that never was and saw the link. I haven't looked back since!

Were you one of those people that stopped into Panera and visited me w/ColDayMan??

No, he wasn't.

Right after my family and I moved to the Williamsport, PA area in January, I did a google image search of the city and it came up with evergrey's Williamsport thread...and the site has created such an impact on me, that i just got offered an internship at the city newspaper(Sun-Gazette) due to my photos of downtown I posted on their community photo site..!!! yay

I was looking for pics of Akron and did a google search and presto, I found heaven... I mean Urban Ohio.  And thus my addiction began.

More like the holiest of holies.

I found Urbanohio when I was preparing to relocate to Columbus from Detroit. It was the only site with actual, useful information about Columbus.

Or so I thought...

I was looking up pictures of Cincinnati and I started reading the news articles and such.

I think that was me (though I use a different screen name on scout)

I found it through the Skyscraper Page (Forum? Something? I can't remember what it's officially called), which I believe I found through Google.

I pretty much don't register anywhere where "E Rocc" is taken.  I have it on AOL, Scout (where I go back to "Greedwatch" days), Free Republic, and a few other places.  I have "e_rocc" on Myspace and I own erocc.net.

I was googling something in '05....and then I lurked for some time....and then I registered. We were out tonight for a bite to eat and wrote it (urbanohio.com) on a napkin for an out of towner on biz...looking for "real cleveland". lets see if she shows up!

I found urban.ohio while reading postings on that depressing site Cleveland.com. Now that I have found it I will never look back!

somebody needs to stage an intervention to make me stop looking that that trash.

I am a retired sailor who grew up mostly in Ashtabula County, but also Trumbull and Geauga counties. I went to Geneva Schools fro 3rd thru 9th grade and then Pymatuning Valley/Ashtabula COunty Joint vocational schools for the last three years. I am currently gathering information from family and friends to include in an electronic genealogical Album (Family tree) that I am creating for my kids. All of my grandparents are gone now and My Dad has terminal bone cancer. I am trying to to make something that will give my kids a legacy and Ohio is part of that. I happened across the website while doing internet picture searches for different towns where I grew up. I want to be able to put picture, places and people to the stories I have told (Aaffectionately called Grandpa stories (of when I grew up in "Grandpa's" home.)) Some storiesmemories may only come back with pictures....I hope to return for a one week visit this time next year. I have contacted several old school mates or people still living in the area (via myspace etc) and many have volunteered to help if they can (what great charity still resides in OHio!).

^ Well, welcome to the forum and I hope the site will be helpful in your endeavor!
