Posted September 28, 200420 yr I can't remember if a thread like this has already been done. If so...oh well. How did you discover urbanohio? With almost 120 members, there should be some semi-interesting stories out there. I am member # 1, so my answer is obvious. Chris and I were the webmasters of cincinnatiuprise.com which was hosted free of charge by a hosting company in Dayton. After a few years that company was sold and the new owner didnt want to continue to give us free hosting so we were forced to pay for hosting ourselves..elsewhere. We ended up not doing that and began a new site..called urbanohio.com  . It first started out with the pics of Dayton and Cincy that we used for the uprise site. Nine months later and we've grown probably ten times the size!!! Everyone else, let us hear it.
September 28, 200420 yr oh i did a google image search on something about cleveland, and one of the images caught my eye and it led me to this website. i was on here for a while just as a place to reference photos and then a few months later i realized there was a forum on here as well
September 28, 200420 yr After they released the new plans for Fountain Square, I was looking up information about skywalk systems (I don’t personally care for them much and wanted to see what research has been done on them). So I jumped on Google and the stumbled across the photo tour of the Cincinnati Skywalk that Cincinnatus posted. So I guess I can blame it all on Cincinnatus.

September 28, 200420 yr So when is the Urbana party girls section going to be added to this site? As for me, I think a google image search for Cincinnati skyline photos got me to cincinnatiuprise.com, and I believe it was when you were just beginning the urbanohio.com site, so I followed your link and found this. But then I sort of forgot about it, and a little while later I first discovered SkyscraperPage independently (that discovery was somehow related to SimCity), which led me back here.
September 28, 200420 yr Here's my story. Back in January of this year (or was it December of last year?) Chris (ColDayMan) posted some of my photos on here and when I did my weekly check of who's viewing my website (shameless plug time [since it's not on the links page here] http://htto://www.roadfan.com/ohsigns.html for the Ohio specific material) I saw this site listed on my referal links part of my stat page and came here to check it out, and been here since (for better or for worse). And my site has been getting "hits" from the skyscraper pages for several years now as well.
September 28, 200420 yr I joined a few days after founding because I heard about the site on SSP (skyscraperpage).
September 28, 200420 yr Someone from Cincinnati Preservation Association I think on a tour of Over-the-Rhine told me about CincinnatiTomorrow (and specifically the subway tours). From there I saw links to Urban Ohio and found my way here.
September 28, 200420 yr I frequented the SSP boards and was aware of CincinnatiUprise, so I got in on UO as soon as Richard and Chris set it up.
September 28, 200420 yr I was doing a report on the Cincinnati riverfront transit center and the Fort Washington Way reconstruction when I came across Cincinnati Transit. From there I saw the links to CincinnatiUprise and came across SSP. Although I never really posted much on SSP I still checked it out quite frequently and came across this place when it opened up.
September 28, 200420 yr Someone got to me on SSP after I posted on threads about Cincinnati. I forget who it was though.
September 28, 200420 yr I was looking for info on the Detroit-Superior Bridge tours, and googled "Detroit-Superior Bridge." That took me to zaceman's post on Skyscrapercity.com about the pedestrian/bike path that had a couple of photos, one of which looked awfully familiar; closer inspection confirmed that it was one I had taken and emailed to an artist friend in San Francisco, who had posted it on his site; from Skyscrapercity.com, I can't remember the exact path that brought me here, but I just started following links. When I got to urbanohio.com, I liked what I saw and just stuck around. :)
September 28, 200420 yr I invented the Internet. And UrbanOhio.com Actually, I found it at Rich's house. Or was that at Chris's mom's house. I can't remember anymore.
September 29, 200420 yr BANNED! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
September 29, 200420 yr well, at the time i lived about a block from coldayman. one day he decided to get a gun, walk around to every house in the area and made people look at his website. so i did. okay, so not really. i was just looking at ssp and saw links to here
October 4, 200420 yr After they released the new plans for Fountain Square' date=' I was looking up information about skywalk systems (I don’t personally care for them much and wanted to see what research has been done on them). So I jumped on Google and the stumbled across the photo tour of the Cincinnati Skywalk that Cincinnatus posted. I can't remember exactly when or from whom I first learned about the site, but it was soon after Rich and ColDay started it. I saw something about it on SkyscraperPage.Com.
October 4, 200420 yr You did mention it Monte, but I did know about it before that, I just hadn't registered because I was preparing to move etc. and decided to wait until I got settled in Cincinnati.
October 6, 200420 yr I don't remember :???: It might have been through a link from another message board (woxy.com), about the giant Jesus statue?? Otherwise I truly don't remember.

November 18, 200420 yr I followed a link from Jake Mecklenborg's site...cincinnati-transit.net is just indispensible, and I'm often checking in there for updates, or to tour a road I had only skimmed before, and at one point finally started following his links.
January 1, 200520 yr I'm a streetcar/subway/el buff who has a website on that subject: http://web.presby.edu/~jtbell/transit/ Like many other Web site owners, I look at my log files to see what other sites my visitors come from. Today I noticed that apparently someone on a bulletin board about Ohio had linked to one of my New Jersey pictures. Why not one of my Cleveland pictures instead? I followed the reference back to see what what was going on. I was born and grew up in Warren, my parents spent most of their lives there, and we used to visit Youngstown and Cleveland regularly, so I figured I'd better stick around!
January 2, 200520 yr I did a Google search on some Ohio passenger rail-related keywords, and found this place to be a great resource for exchanging ideas and info. Now look at what I've done to it!! January 2, 200520 yr I did a Google search on some Ohio passenger rail-related keywords, and found this place to be a great resource for exchanging ideas and info. Now look at what I've done to it!! KJP I'm glad you're here, and I'm sure a lot of other people are too. You provide substantive information on passenger rail and transit, topics that a lot of us can only speculate about.
January 18, 200520 yr I was researching something about Detroit, and one of the hits was about improvements in the Detroit/Shoreway area of Cleveland. Being a native of that patch of real eastate, I clicked on the site, and stumbled here from the links page. This was on Sunday, today is Tuesday, and I already feel at home. Keep posting things folks -- it's too cold to venture far...
January 19, 200520 yr ^ That seems to be a typical story. Hell, with the way I post on here I find stuff I posted on Google all the time.
May 2, 200520 yr UrbanOhio forums became required reading to understand anything MrNYC and KJP among others were talking about on Cleveland.com forums. So I've read and not said much (lurked) and not until recently actually joined as a member.
May 3, 200520 yr Well, I Googled "urban Ohio", and after sifting through 1,568 hits such as "Cheap Meds!", "Get a Mortgage with No Money Down!", and "Hot Asian Schoolgirls" I found what I was looking for. And then that page had a link to Urbanohio. OK, just kidding. I don't remember.
May 3, 200520 yr ^ HA!! Nice try. If you google urban ohio.....the first result you get is our site ;)
May 3, 200520 yr I was trying to find directions to Easton. but only to find out how to get away from there?
March 31, 200718 yr I was hanging out with a friend in the neighborhood, ran into MTS who happened to be with two other people from Cleveland. Since we were close to MTS' palace, he invited all of us over to his crib for "coffee & refreshments" (think Bree from desperate housewives). We were talking about jobs and cities why we all moved from Cleveland. After some discussion about how we all hated Ohio, MTS should us the UrbanOhio threads. After reading a few some interesting information, I signed up and spent a couple of hours browsing the site.
March 31, 200718 yr I met ColDayMan in an abandoned building in downtown Detroit. He was eating Church's chicken and telling me of this website he started. So I joined, yeah. Well, the story is somewhat true!
March 31, 200718 yr www.cleveland.com/forums/lakefront I put U/O in my bookmarks and forgot about it for a year. Cannot say I can recommend the cle.com forums.
March 31, 200718 yr I think I found this UO, via Cleveland.com or the skyscrapper pages forum. March 31, 200718 yr I was doing a search for Battery Park. Found a link to a forum on hear. Never looked back!
March 31, 200718 yr Is it possible to make this a sticky? I appears a few of these old urbanbar threads could be stickies. I assume that when the site was first launched, the threads were not as organized as they are currently and urbanbar was tcreated as a "catch all" for general threads.
