The Bearcats will get in with a 9th seed

OSU will get a 2 seed if they win the Big 10 (But no worse than a 4th seed if they don't win another game)

LSU will most likely be a 3 seed (I'll be surprised if they get a 2 seed if they win both the Regular season and post-season SEC titles). But could drop back to a 6th seed if they fall apart here at the end.

Duke and the Winner of the Big East (UConn/Villanova) are locks as 1 seeds.  Here's hoping Memphis and Gonzaga join them (but not at the expense of Villanova!)

And the magic is gone @ Xavier. For the first time since the early 80s, they won't make the big dance in consecutive years.  Better see if Pete Gillian wants come back home.

Last Fall, one of the guys at work came in all excited about how he scored an appointment for his vasectomy on the first day of March Madness.

  • Went to the game Iowa vs. Tenn and half the game UNC vs. Wash. First time in Columbus and was really fun. Wow, if anyone watched that Iowa vs. Tenn game it was an incredible comeback by Iowa (Iowa fan

I think this is a bit of overreaction at this point and the wrong move. Without playing in front of fans you diminish the amount of people in the arenas. With all the people off work and staying home,

I guess we scratch the Bearcats off the list and put Xavier in their place (though, I'd be surprised if X is given a single digit seeding this year)

^ I guess you were right.

Bullshit.

The Bearcats don't get in and some shit team like Air Force or George Mason does?

Did anyone happen to see them interview the chairman of the committee after all of the brackets were announced.  He was unable to give a real answer to any of the questions.  Just the same old bullshit over and over.

Xavier will not go very far.  They've shown a lot of heart and they've shown that anything's possible, but they're without their starting point guard (dismissed) and their best player (broken ankle).  Magic only lasts for so long.

Cincinnati: beat LSU, Marquette, Lousiville, West Virginia, and Syracuse

Air Force: beat Geogria Tech and Miami, FL.

The committee picked Air Force to go to the tournament and not UC.  Why, I don't know.

^grasscat, yea I saw the interview with the chariman and loved how they cut him off at the end to bitch about how piss poor they did this year.  classic.

Yeah, I didn't care for Nantz & Packer's antics in that interview either.

I'm not sure what Packer is trying to push with his "previous tourney results forcast future seeding predictions" rant he was pushing during the OSU-Iowa game and the selection show.  Sounded to much like a punish the mid-majors/little players mantra.  Not cool. :whip:

You think that's sad, check out George Mason's schedule.

UC had the #4 strength of schedule, beat the teams already listed, went 8-8 in the toughest conference in basketball, but they lost to syracuse (who is beating everyone)  by 1 at the buzzer and all of a sudden they are out of the tourny.

Seton Hall gets in with a worse record, worse SOS, and a 50+ point loss to Duke, double digit losses to Rutgers, Depaul, and Notre Dame.

Air Force didnt even make it to the semi-finals in the Mountain West Conference tourney...need I say more

Norhtern Iowa had 7 conference losses in the missouri valley!

And some how the WAC gets two teams with Utah State...who the shit is this??!?!?!

NIT here we come....NCAA screws UC every year anyways!

If they put it all to just the last 16 games of the season. They shouldn't even conside what their rpi SOS is or what their non-conference schedule is.

A strong RPI and strength of schedule (SOS) didn't help UC get in:

RPI School W-L SOS 1-50 51-100 Result
40	Cincinnati	19-12	5	4-8	7-3	did not get in
41	Kentucky	21-12	15	3-8	6-4	8 seed
44	Texas A&M	21-8	67	1-5	6-2	12 seed
45	Arkansas	22-9	68	4-6	3-1	8 seed
46	Utah State	22-8	102	1-2	6-3	12 seed
50	Air Force	22-6	158	0-1	5-2	13 seed
51	NC State	22-6	64	3-5	8-3	10 seed
52	California	20-10	61	3-5	4-2	7 seed
57	Alabama	17-12	12	5-6	4-3	10 seed
58	Seton Hall	18-11	36	5-4	3-4	10 seed

They were also spouting off stats about how many teams made it to the sweet 16 out of ACC/B12 and comparing that to how many made it out of the MVC, of course the more bids you get the more will make it to the 16, simply math.

I wish Rafferty was the main color man on CBS...time for FudgePacker to go

UC not getting in is a joke.  I also can't believe Kennedy hasn't got picked up by UC?  Nancy needs to get her head out of her ass.

Lets leave Nancy out of this please...she is not some ultimate dictator with complete control.  Please know that there is a board of trustees that has ultimate say over what she does.  It is Mike Thomas who you should look at during this decision making process not Nancy Zimpfer.

The Cincinnati media has programed me to hate Nancy Zimpfer. ;)

Back to the RPI thing...UC has an RPI of 40 and doesn't get in.  UK has a 41 and GETS AN 8 SEED.  How the fuck does that work?

Fill out your brackets!  :D

gggrrr.  im still so mad.  since im up in cbus i dont hear talk radio in cincy but i have heard from a friend that a lot of talk radio is talking up some conspiracy between littlepage and zimpher/the new UC AD.  I dont for a second believe it without proof but any insight on that?

this entire situation absolutely defies logic.  I cant think of one good reason UC didnt get in.  I am trying to reason it with myself, but cant.

^ Hey I know WLW reaches C-bus.  Dial in 700AM, my friend...

We thank Xavier for participating in this year's tourney.

Next time, try harder. (BTW, what did happen [Was watching LSU down here]? I saw Xavier up by 10 and next thing I know the 'Zags are winning)

Go Buckeyes tomorrow.

X couldn't stop that guy that looks like you ;-)

X couldn't stop that guy that looks like you ;-)

I wish I had more clones.  I could get more done. :-D

Thanks Bucks for nothing.

Oh c'mon!  These kids played one hell of a season and they went up against a traditionally tough team that was totally on their game.  Gerogetown's center was just amazing, despite a strong effort by Dials.  A few less turnovers and a few less "bricks" from the perimeter and it might have been a very different game.

Any fans who went into this tournament with expectations for OSu going all the way were setting themselve's up for a letdown.  It was a good dream and they might have gotten close, but it was still a dream.

Go Bucks! They'll be even better next year.

^Yeah, I was being a little harsher than I should have.

But they still should had reached the Sweet 16 (based on their season's performance).  :|

Bearcats still alive

As the game wound down, the chants of "Hire Andy!" again reverberated throughout Fifth Third Arena.

There's no way to know if University of Cincinnati athletic director Mike Thomas was paying attention, but one thing the Bearcats do know is their season isn't over yet.

Eric Hicks (left), who led UC with 23 points, 11 rebounds and four blocked shots, battles Minnesota's Zach Puchtel for a rebound in Tuesday's NIT game at Fifth Third Arena. UC won 76-62.

Anyone in Cincy who likes basketball and Cincinnati sports NEEDS to go out to the game thursday night against the defending NIT Champs.  This is the last home game for these seniors and the UC Basketball program derserves all the support in the world!

GO OUT AND SUPPORT THE CATS THURSDAY @ 6pm.

Call:  513.556.CATS for tix

^ I went to the opener with Charlotte and haven't had time to post my photos and won't be able to make this game because I am in Hawaii.

Go Bearcats!

....Kansas that is.

5 years with Kansas St.

^Well I guess being in Hawaii is a resonable enough excuss

But for the rest of you CALL:  513.556.CATS for tickets now before it is too late.  This is your last chance to see/support the only local team (tristate team) left in March.

CHEER CINCINNATI, CINCY WILL WIN.....

WTF this program is going down fast. 2 starters suspended indefinatly. White and Mohammad.

Good for him.  It must have been tough for him to be away from coaching for a year.

I am pissed...  WTF is going on with UC?  White & Mohammad suspended?  For f*cking what?

grades were posted Thurs......

Chuck Machock had some interesting comments at the end of the game, among other subjects,  White and Jihad let 'em down b/c they couldn't hack a 'D'

WTF is ESPN 'U'?

Meanwhile, south of the Mason-Dixon line...

K-State, XU game set

BY DUSTIN DOW | ENQUIRER STAFF WRITER

The deal to bring Bob Huggins back to Cincinnati to face Xavier University has been completed. Xavier, preparing what could be its toughest schedule in school history in 2006-07, will play against Huggins’ Kansas State team Jan. 3 at U.S. Bank Arena. Kansas State will return to U.S. Bank Arena again in 2007-08, and Xavier will travel to Manhattan, Kan. in 2008-09 for the third game of the series.

Looks like Huggins got his wish - to play Xavier at the arena instead of on campus.

Dayton athletic director Ted Kissell says selections show area has a great environment for college basketball.

By Doug Harris

Staff Writer

DAYTON | Dayton athletic director Ted Kissell was in the midst of a round of golf with wife Deanna on Thursday — and not exactly pleased with his play — when a ringing cell phone brought news that would lift his mood.

After learning the NCAA had selected UD to host first- and second-round games of the men's tournament in 2009 and a women's regional in 2010, Kissell felt as if he had holed a 30-foot double-breaker for birdie. "Frankly, I'm stunned," he said...

Good news indeed...way to go Dayton.  Any if you could, share some of the tips on how to get one of these tourny rounds for us in Cincy.....US Bank Arena is perfect for it.  Hey its probably because the NCAA hates Cincy:  see '06s NCAA tournament selection committee....thx for the respect assholes!

Cincy is getting 1st/2nd round games in the immediate future.

P.S. The NCAA must still be bent with the Women's Final 4 that was held in Cincy several years back as well.

  • 4 years later...

The 2011 NCAA Tournament is here.  And Ohio has a prominent role to play.

First, it all begins at the University of Dayton Arena with the inaugural First Four play-in games.  UD Arena has hosted the #16 vs. #16 play-in game in recent years.  But this year they'll get two #16 seed play-in games, one #12 seed play-in game and one #11 seed play-in game.  Tuesday features #16 seeds UNC-Asheville and AR-Little Rock playing first - followed by #12 seeds UAB and Clemson.  Wednesday features #16 seeds TX-San Antonio and Alabama State - followed by #11 seeds USC and VCU.

Second, Cleveland is a first round/second round host city.  The Q will host #1 seed Ohio State, #3 Syracuse, #6 Xavier, #8 George Mason, #9 Villanova, #11 Marquette, #14 Indiana State and the winner of the #16 seed play-in game between Texas-San Antonio and Alabama State for games on Friday and Sunday.

Third, four Ohio teams made the tourney.  Ohio State leads the way as the overall #1 seed of the tournament and #1 seed in the East Region.  Xavier is a #6 seed in the East Region.  Cincinnati is #6 seed in the West Region.  Akron is a #15 seed in the Southwest Region.

From Dayton to Houston.  Let the March Madness begin.

My favorite sports time of year is finally here! Its great that dayton is getting an expanded hosting role and that cleveland is also hosting. I wonder what kind of money hosting brings in to the cities? Columbus, cincinatti, and dayton are all hosting for the womens tournament this year and I believe columbus is hosting the mens next year at nationwide arena as well as dayton again for the play in games.

I haven't followed this year as much as in the past, but this looks like a really wide open field.  There are a number of 3 and 4 seeds that I could see winning the whole thing, and a number of 8 and 9 seeds that could conceivably send top seeds home in the second round.

The one team that I really want to see if they're for real is San Diego State.  It's just such a strange name to see at a #2 seed.
