Posted January 9, 20169 yr Friday night it's pay-as-you-wish to get into the new Whitney Museum. I felt generous donating $2.00 (until I win that $800M tonight it'll have to do), although I admit that did feel a little cheap until I noticed that the chronically complaining elderly French-speaking couple who had been in front of me in line paid only a dollar each! Sheesh! A few highlights (couldn't remember all the artists)... A couple of works from the Archibald Motley show Views from the outdoor decks from the upper floors are spectacular Lisette Model Cincinnati-born artist Mabel Dwight Pontificating on Edward Hopper John Curry Thomas Hart Benton George Bellows sort of a second tier Jackson Pollock (the best ones are at MoMA--lol) Franz Kline okay, this is art (two by Robert Gober)... ...as is this! Can't remember the photog who did these but this is a virtual rogues gallery of up and coming 80's artists, some of whom made it big--Jeff Koons, Cindy Sherman, etc. what's with these two? They're probably Russian spies I wondered if this piece becomes devalued if these objects are even slightly out of their current position  southernmost end of the High Line the Frank Stella retrospective (thru Feb. 7) is outstanding http://www.mainstreetpainesville.org/
