Hello!

I live in the North Hill Area of Akron and am interested in moving closer to the Euclid Ave/44103 area (New Job).  Can anyone tell me how I can find-out how the neighborhoods rate in reference to crime?

Welcome to UO. Sometimes a ZIP can have vastly different crime rates within it and have varying degrees of random crime vs. crime that only affects drug dealers and addicts. So asking for advice on UO was a smart move rather that robotically depending on crime maps that you'd see on say, City-Data.

I am considering a temporary place (may be there for months) on a street called Temblett Ave.  The area that I will be working in is close to 6000 Euclid Ave. 44103.  Can you tell me about either of those areas?

I wouldn't recommend that area to live.

You're going to be working right in the heart of MidTown. Not much for residences there, at least not yet. What is your price range and do you plan/desire to rely on public transportation?

Right now I am looking for a quick residence.  Not more than $300/month.  Most likely just renting a room until I am sure I will stay with this company.  Have  my own transportation.

That's a pretty tight budget for housing, and particularly so with no long term commitment.  Have you given any thought to just staying in Akron until you figure things out and familiarize yourself with the city?  It's a long, but hardly outrageous daily commute.  People do it

It is more about the amount of time for commuting than anything else.  I am hoping just to rent a room.

Keep checking Craigslist. There's some possibilities in there now. But keep in mind that the RNC coming up is going to vastly distort the housing market for a brief time, with some pretty outrageous rates. But that will last for only a couple of weeks in July.

Here's a link to keep checking as information will updated with new possibilities....

EDIT: this one in Little Italy might be good, although its rent is a little bit higher that what you want. Little Italy is a great neighborhood, although the address of this home isn't identified...

This one near Coventry looks OK too but is a bit more expensive...

A little farther away, but still in Cleveland Hts and a bit over your budget...
