April 24Apr 24 ^ Terrestrial brand name and beers will carry on, but brewed off-site at Brew Kettle, so the beer production at the building will stop. The building itself will be spit into two. The upper level will be an events space (weddings etc) the lower will be some kind of bar/ restaurant concept. My hovercraft is full of eels
June 5Jun 5 Kent's MadCap Brew Co. to Close in Julyhttps://www.crainscleveland.com/restaurants/madcap-brew-co-kent-close(paywalled, but FB link to first part of story here: https://www.facebook.com/CrainsCleveland/posts/pfbid02qTspauiBhVXrdY51C9iANKQ4YT5JeygfrW53NnEKZN82zU9CJJ1u2yGBS5rcARhfl) ============================It's been a rough few years for Akron-area breweries: We've lost R. Shea, Akronym (a personal favorite), Two Monks (ditto), Hop Tree, Headtrip, Aqueduct, Trailhead, and now MadCap; I think Royal Docks is struggling (other rumors on FB are that they've missed payroll a couple of times recently); Lock 15 was sold (though to BrewKettle, so another local one), as was Ohio Brewing. That said, we still have some great ones, but the Summit Brew Path is definitely smaller than it used to be (and in fact, MadCap removed themselves from it a year or two ago and so I didn't know they were still around even before this announcement).
