"I always say that we're the hardest brewery in Cleveland to find." Jolly Scholar's location, tucked into a building on the campus of Case Western Reserve University, is just one of the challenges Vann faces that his competition does not. Despite being a captive audience, many students don't even reach legal drinking age until halfway through their undergraduate studies. Those who are old enough to drink disappear for nearly three months each summer. And then there's the staff, which experiences significant turnover with each new scholastic calendar. August 7, 20195 yr I believe that Platform had some deep pocketed investors to get them expanded so fast. I’m sure those investors got paid today. I don’t see Platform continuing on in the same fashion of coming out with 3-5 new beers a week. AB is not going to have that. Heck i can envision AB turning platform into a brand of taphouses across the nation that mainly carry all the beer of breweries that AB has snapped up. That would include Goose Island, Elysian, 10 barrel, Breckenridge, wicked weed, devils backbone, and golden road.

I’m sure they also have some other good stuff. And I find their process fascinating. When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?

April 24, 20223 yr After trying Cleveland Whiskey's flagship whiskey, I unfortunately have to agree with the above comments. It's not quite dreadful, but there are plenty of better bourbons at the price point. That said I also tried one of their Cleveland Underground varieties (the apple wood one) and I thought that was significantly better, so they seem to be moving in the right direction! I'm really happy about their success though, and I think they'll be a great anchor to the Flats South development! Can't wait to see what they build there, and I'll definitely visit when it opens!
