Worth a listen! It was great! Here’s the Apple podcast link. It sounds like Pat Conway wants to to get going on the new plant on Scranton Peninsula. (Keep in mind, Pat’s always been the dreamer, his brother the business sense, so we shouldn’t get too excited yet.) They also talk about their intentions to bring back Burning River Fest in 2023. February 2, 20232 yr Collision Bend reveals first glimpse of Euclid location Collision Bend Brewing Co., which has operated in Cleveland's Flats neighborhood since 2017, has revealed more of its plans to expand the brewpub to a 105-year-old industrial property in Euclid, Ohio. A submission to Euclid's Planning Commission shows more of Collision Bend's plans for a new 25,000-square-foot facility at 1261 Babbitt Road. However, the brewing company's presentation scheduled for last month was postponed at its request. The plans to move to Euclid come after Collision Bend has experienced an increase in production over the last couple of years. The brewery expects to have between 10 to 20 employees working at the location at a time. February 22, 20232 yr New Cleveland Palesner was my go to for a few years, but I never touched a drop of theirs after AB came along. Casual chats with the guys who work the beer fridges at the downtown Heinens confirmed that Platform’s sales these last few years have been nowhere near where they used to be. Outside of the Palesner, I never cared for their other brews, I’m not an IPA guy, they always seemed to be trying too hard to be edgy. My hovercraft is full of eels

April 18, 20232 yr A nice article from Crains on Cleveland Whiskey. They still seems like an excellent anchor Tennant for Flats South Development. The vacated street and second floor barbeque restaurant sound like they will be great to give the area some life. It's mostly a puff piece that reminds the reader why this project is worth getting excited about, as well as relating some history. It's worth a read. The main update on the status is copied below. https://www.crainscleveland.com/small-business/cleveland-whiskey-restarts-work-distillery-restaurant "With so many unforeseen setbacks that have popped up over the years, Lix is reluctant to give any timeline for when different phases of construction will be completed. Last summer, Lix was anticipating moving production operations to the new site by the end of the year. But construction work had to be put on pause. After a lull, that work is underway once again. "The good news is a lot of work is partially done. A lot of equipment and supplies are already there," Lix said, noting construction had been on hold for at least six months. "I definitely don't want to be talking next year about completing phase one of this project." "

They wouldn't want to transport beers and would have to brew at the other location. Who knows if that stays the case but that's why they're doing what they're doing. Definitely best brewery in town but man I miss the days when it was sleepy and you could just chill and chat it up with the bartenders. Good for them though!
May 5, 20232 yr If anyone needs an excuse to spend $50, there's a beer event at Ben Franklin Community Garden in Old Brooklyn next week. I'm assuming the fields will have at least their first plow so you'll be able to see how expansive the space is. Pretty cool on Schnitz Ale through, we've picked up their brew waste and put it into our compost piles for at least a year now so they're paying it back in a big way! https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2023/05/schnitz-ale-brewery-to-hold-1st-beer-fest-for-community-garden.html
June 14, 20232 yr Crafted Artisan Meadery moving to former church You might say Crafted Artisan Meadery’s expansion is more than an ambitious plan. It’s a religious experience. That’s because the ground where Kent Waldeck is moving his meadery once held churches dating to the 19th century. He is hoping for a late summer/early fall opening. All the while, he is still producing mead down the road. Crafted Artisan Meadery will cover 12,000 square feet — a huge jump from its current 2,000-square-foot space. Crumbling walls were jackhammered for rebuilding. Paint was blasted off the ceiling’s underside, leaving the metal’s unique patina. Insulation was added. September 28, 20231 yr seems more likely they just weren't making ends meet. in another thread several people admitted they didn't know it was there or felt the marketing/signage wasn't great. I have to agree, imo it wasn't real obvious there's a nice brewpub on the premises, it's more dominated by the cohatch building/signage. it's a shame, I liked it.

May 8, 20241 yr I don’t wanna pile on Great Lakes, because I’ll always love them. But there was a pretty in-depth article on them last year that made it obvious they were somewhat rudderless. They have lost their identity and need to look what other heritage microbreweries have done to stay relevant…rather than struggling to push the low carb kiwi seltzer kinda stuff they’ve delved into.

October 1, 2024Oct 1 Another nice piece on Cleveland Whiskey in Crains. The tone is positive, but there's a bit of bittersweet news in there, at least to me. The restaurant portion isn't set to open for "many years" and "there’s no hard timeline in place." Which isn't as soon as I'd hoped. The owner also floats the idea of being acquired by one of the "big guys" which makes business sense, but would seem a bit disappointing to me. https://www.crainscleveland.com/manufacturing/cleveland-whiskey-has-big-plans-its-new-flats-south-bank-campus

December 17, 2024Dec 17 Hopefully Terrestrial sees similar benefits from Brew Kettle's ownership that Lock 15 has seen. I guess I'm just glad they aren't going out of business after entering bankruptcy last year. Terrestrial Brewing Co. joins the Brew Kettle portfolio Jeremy Nobile December 17, 2024 Add Cleveland’s Terrestrial Brewing Co., a seven-year-old business that filed for bankruptcy last year, to the growing list of craft breweries that have joined The Brew Kettle portfolio of companies. Brew Kettle president Bryan Weber told Crain’s that he has purchased not only Terrestrial, in fact, but the marquee Battery Park property at 7524 Father Frascati — where Terrestrial is a tenant — which overlooks Edgewater State Park. ...
