High-end wine and beer store coming to Troy

Bottle-No.-121*280.jpg?v=1

When Bottle No. 121 opens in early January, residents in Troy and towns around it will no longer have to make the trek down to Dayton for craft beers and fine wines.

Mallorie Brinkman and husband Brian Heggs are launching the upscale beer and wine store at 121 Public Square in downtown Troy because they saw a need in the northern market for high-end wine and beer.

I hate to say it, but do they really think moving is going to help them? Unless their new spot is drastically different I don't see anyone really choosing it over Masque. Most of its current clientele is just people doing something before going into Masque across the parking lot. I've also never seen MJs with more than maybe 20 people inside. And it's a big place. Always surprised to still see it open.

^Interesting. I had no clue. Heard of MJ, and plenty of people I know frequent the Masque. But I never hear them mention MJ's. I guess there's a reason....

Oh well. Wishing them the best, the new digs look nice. And Dayton needs a decent, safe club scene (emphasis on safe - nothing scarier than being in an unsafe nightclub - happened to me once in West Virginia....). Masque does an excellent job, hope MJ's can match them.

how's kramers doing these days? can you still get quarts there? lol

The more stuff that gets added to Wayne, the happier I am. That street is going to be very different in the next 3-5 years between Third and Wyoming.

Wayne, from 5th south to Stewart (especially south of 35/Xenia and at the intersection with Wyoming), is the most crash-intensive stretch of road in greater downtown. Hopefully either that can change (ideally) or it at least doesn't hurt the development momentum.

That Xenia/Keowee/35/Wayne intersection is an absolute disaster. I don't know why anyone thought that was a good idea when they laid it out. Bike lanes and bumpouts would help out Wayne for sure. It's not a pleasant experience in its current form.
