June 13, 20187 yr Author Miamisburg ‘brewery district’ gains momentum Miamisburg has a long history and local residents are learning more about it these days — thanks in part to beer. The city’s two breweries — Star City Brewing Co. and Lucky Star Brewery — sit just a few buildings down from one another on South Second Street near its downtown. They’re attracting people to the city to sample new brews. It’s a mini “brewery district” that complements a number of other bars and local eateries clustered around their historic buildings. Justin Kohnen, co-owner of Star City Brewing, says the brewery he opened in late 2013 always intended to do that. The brewery sits inside the historic Peerless Mill, which has been around since 1828. Its flagstone floor is made up of parts of Lock 26, once a part of the canal through the city.
