September 21, 20222 yr Author Moeller Brew Barn just opened inside of shuttered Rivertown Brewing space in Monroe A new-to-market craft brewery spent $4.3 million overhauling the shuttered Rivertown Brewing space in Monroe, and it just opened its doors to the public. Moeller Brew Barn, which Nick Moeller opened in Maria Stern, Ohio, in 2015, hosted its grand opening in the former Rivertown space at 6550 Hamilton Lebanon Road on Sept. 16. The Monroe Moeller Brew Barn is the brand's fourth and marks its first expansion into the Cincinnati market. The 25,875-square-foot facility serves as a brewery, taproom and restaurant, serving up beers like the flagship Wally Post Red, a red rye ale named for Reds Hall-of-Famer Wally Post. Another flagship is the Honeywagon IPA, named for the manure spreader, which was invented in Maria Stein in 1899. The brewery also produces seasonal beers like a salted caramel coffee ale and a Cabrewin' hazy pale ale. The project comes to meet customer needs for a gathering space and will create more jobs. Crooked Handle Brewing Co. will be expanding their Springboro location to include an event space as soon as possible, owners said. The expansion will be adding approximately 1,200 square feet of space and will include an additional private restroom and extra storage and office space for the restaurant. While the Springboro location was always planned for expansion, the need for overflow seating during peak business hours was a major motivator to push the project forward. With the added space, anywhere from 30 to 40 seats will be added, as well as an extension to the existing patio space. Alex Road in West Carrollton, which was formerly a Buffalo Wild Wings. Business owners currently are in the process of remodeling the interior of the restaurant to better suit their vision for the tap house, according to the business’ Facebook page. Slap’N Lizard Tap House, a new tap house coming to West Carrollton, will feature a selection of 50 different beers, including 40 craft beers and six domestic beers, four different wines, as well as seltzers and ciders. May 1, 20232 yr Author Dayton distillery announces first bourbon made in region since Prohibition A distillery in the Dayton region has announced the release of a new bourbon that has been distilled, aged and bottled in Dayton – a first since Prohibition. The bourbon is a highly limited release. Belle of Dayton Distillery, located at 122 Van Buren St. in the Oregon District, is releasing the Detrick Fine Whiskies Single Barrel Bourbon Batch 001. This is the first release of many that is planned for Detrick Fine Whiskies, which will consist of highly limited releases of single barrel bourbon each quarter. The single barrel bourbon features some of the distillery’s oldest barrels of aging bourbon whiskey. Each release features a 5-grain mashbill comprised of corn, oats, rye, wheat and malted barley and is bottled at full proof. This non-chill filtered bourbon with an age statement over six years is made up of just one single barrel, distilled in December 2016 and aged at the distillery. Warped Wing Brewing Company's newest brewery and taproom at 6602 Executive Blvd. in Huber Heights is set for a soft opening next week, Nick Bowman, co-founder of Warped Wing, told the Dayton Business Journal. The brewery, which recently secured the liquor permit for the site, has yet to pick a date for a grand opening. The completed renovations on the 12,000-square-foot building, which Synergy & Mills Development began work on last year, added a roughly 4,000-square-foot taproom, outdoor biergarten, 40-to-50-person event space, and room for warehouse and production. The location will employ 45 people, according to Bowman.
