My friend and her family (4 total) are coming back to CLE from Detroit and they REALLY need to find a house that they can agree on that suits the needs of their family. They've been looking very hard at Lakewood and strongly prefer it, but aren't finding the house they want. If they can't find something in 3 more weeks, they're really screwed as their kids need to register at the school they want there and can't unless they have a Lakewood address. They want to move in June.

Here's what they need:

4 bedrooms, 2+ baths, 30 min from mentor, 30 min from Cleveland (Lakewood, Sagamore Hills, Macedonia, willoughby, willoughby hills are preferred) 2800 sq feet +, finished basement, max budget 350K. They are pre-approved and not contingent on existing house selling.

Anyone got anything? Post links if you can.

Too small for them, they looked at this already. She said if it's on zillow or realtor.com, they've seen it. But thank you! Keep em coming!

I could recommend a great realtor I used who is a resident of Lakewood if they don't already have one.

Yes. My friend is trying very hard to find something she and the DH both love and it just hasn't happened yet. The realtor is good, I just thought I'd post here in case people knew of anything that might be something the realtor might not know about.

Yea, it's horrible right now for inventory. Are they not looking at Shaker because of taxes? That's where the real inventory is for what they're looking for and Shaker is selling like hotcakes. Lakewood is basically selling as soon as it's listed. It's an interesting market right now!

To belabor the obvious, it's very hard to find a decent house in Lakewood right now and it's even harder to find one when shopping from a distance. Quality homes that enter the market don't stay on the market for long and there's no guarantee that the house they want/need will come on the market in the next three weeks.

Thus, my suggestion is to rent a large apartment on a corporate renting basis (such as on a three-month renewable basis), and continue their shopping. The largest apartments are on the Gold Coast. Several buildings have three-bedroom units.

There are also large apartments available in building along Lake Shore Boulevard in Euclid and into Wickliffe.

Again, this is only intended to be a short-term solution.

I'll pass along these comments, thanks guys.

Yes, Shaker is bc of taxes she said. 11K and she pays 5K now.

Apartment not an option. The move is going to be expensive enough and they would have to spend thousands and thousands a month on storage for all the stuff in their house, she looked into that.

That same $11,000 still amounts to about $9,366 in Lakewood.
