It all just feels like we're getting punk'd, I truly cannot understand what Arshot is trying to do at this point.

My actual thought when discovering this was "Well.... ummm okay sure why not".

Well, I know you all loved Millennial Tower but it's my pleasure to introduce to you... ... Mini Millennial Tower!     Nope, I'm actually not joking.   It seems that Elford ha

It seems they have come up with these two proposals, put them out into the interwebs, and are just hoping they can get some large office tenant to bite. If that doesn't happen, they will never build anything.

Arshot gonna Arshot.  I just wish they'd sell to a better firm who can actually scope out the viability of a project this size in that area.  It's gonna be 2098 and we're still going to be hearing about "Millennial Tower any day now..." and they'll just wait until 2100 and call it Centennial Tower.

Don't forget about Mini Centennial!

It would be nice if one of our fine media outlets here in Columbus could hold Arshot's feet to the fire about what exactly there plan is here. Or at the very least, get them to say something. How long has it been since we've heard anything "official"?

This kind of news is most often covered by Columbus Underground and Columbus Business Journals.  I don't know any of the folks there, but I'm guessing both probably have a generic contact email at the very least?

In the past, yes, CU was always the media outlet to chase down developers and ask the questions nobody else would. That being said, it seems in recent years they've become about as bland and poised as everyone else. While it may be worth a try to see if they can get some info, I wouldn't expect them to put much effort unless it's sponsored content or it's already been picked up by every other outlet and they decided to jump in the ring for clicks.

Uh, yes please. It's pretty infuriating they can just do this without saying anything for so long.

CU is pretty much useless now. They almost always get beat by CBF or The Dispatch (or random people on here) when it comes to development news. Sometimes they can't even manage to get a story out at all. They used to be the go to source for development news, but now I barely even bother to visit the site. Walker seems more concerned with putting out crappy political articles and restaurant reviews that nobody cares about. They can't even manage to put together their monthly construction round-up that everyone always enjoyed.

Anyway...that's a discussion for a different thread I suppose.

I think the question to ask overall is why our formerly edgy news publications in town always move away from questioning developers to restaurant reviews. It happens every time.

This is just bizarre. Mini Millennial Tower? It actually says that at the link. It almost does sound like a joke. However if they end up building both(very unlikely I think) I would be ok with that.

*I think abandoned projects is probably the right place for this now unfortunately.  Arshot strikes out again.

I also believe this is arshot  being arshot.... no news.... 6 months later vague news... no news... questions arise.... oh look! Etc etc.

That being said, I actually think it's a ploy they should have thrown out 2 years ago. It makes sense to me to try a smaller tower that matches the larger to drum up that support. Get the smaller tenants in and perhaps it will attract the larger, enough to get a tower in the works.

Do I think it will work at this point, no, but I do think it could have at some point. Hopefully some sort of mid-rise comes out of this.

So will the plot of land just be held hostage if we're assuming this project to be abandoned?

Per Elford Realty, the project is still "on the table" according to an article updating proposed high-rise construction projects from Columbus Business First:

North Market tower, Hilton Columbus Downtown, other high-rise projects press forward even amid pandemic

Even as the Covid-19 recession chills construction in Central Ohio, developers of the region's largest projects say they're committed.
