July 31, 20168 yr I'm not quite sure what you mean by "when will the West grow a pair". Are you making a political statement? If I remember correctly, when all the information finally came out, it was revealed that the attacker was most likely a closeted gay man who was clearly struggling with his identity. The calls of support to ISIS were attempts to gain more attention. So, is your question "when will the West grow a pair" about dealing with terrorist threats real or imaginary? Or, when will the West accept gay men completely without these men having identity crisis which can lead to potential danger? Or neither? It just seems like a strange thing to say while posting moving pictures of tribute to those who lost their lives in this tragedy.
July 31, 20168 yr The perp was born and raised in the US. He was one of us just like the 49 people he murdered.
July 31, 20168 yr One of the side effects of our freedom of speech and expression is that the weaker, dumber members of our society are able to be corrupted by extremist narratives like those of the Islamic State. He may have been born in the US, but he was our enemy because of his support for such extremism. According to the FBI, there's no evidence whatsoever that the shooter was gay. There's plenty of evidence he was an ISIS sympathizer, though. He wasn't a closeted gay man, he was a religious man who believed homosexuals should be killed, and took matters into his own hands. Not to speak for OP, but when he says we should "grow a pair" I think he means we should be able to better sniff out our enemies, who are, unfortunately, oftentimes hidden among us quite well.
