Posted March 2, 200619 yr This is the oldest lighthouse still in use on the Great Lakes!!! Classic lighthouse architecture at its best. I would love to have a few lighthouses down here in the nati.
March 2, 200619 yr Yeah, Cincinnati is kind of short on lighthouses...given that they're also short on oceans and Great Lakes, that makes sense, though! Alas...though I'll take the river over the lake any day (sorry...lakes rock too!)
March 2, 200619 yr This is one of my favorite Great Lakes Lighthouse: (possibly because I have only been to 3 or 4) http://www.terrypepper.com/lights/superior/splitrock/splitrock08.htm
March 3, 200619 yr Cleveland has a lake and a river. Yeah for Cleveland. well we have a lake that we have little access to and a river that is just as limimted in access. oh well, we will change that in tyhe coming years, but we have the best of both worlds a river and a lake for recreation.
March 3, 200619 yr The Cuyahoga is a creek ;). "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
March 3, 200619 yr lol thats funny, I know the cuyahoga is not the greatest, but hey it is a river, that needs some TLC. we need to open up our wter ways in this city so that the public can enjoy them. Its all we have and is a valuable asset to Cleveland despit not being as huge as some of our Nations more popular rivers.
March 3, 200619 yr who knows? noones ever heard of east fork. could...not...resist....moving a thread, anythread above the louisville tower. :strong:
March 3, 200619 yr if the cuyahoga is a creek then the miami and scioto are gullies. Didn't realize there was a Miami River. :) And trust me, the Scioto is a creek too. The Olentangy is a gully. March 4, 200619 yr if the cuyahoga is a creek then the miami and scioto are gullies. Didn't realize there was a Miami River. :) And trust me, the Scioto is a creek too. The Olentangy is a gully. well now you know that in fact there are five. take your pick: Great Miami River in Southwestern Ohio Little Miami River in Southwestern Ohio Miami River (Florida) in South Florida Miami River (Oregon) Miami River (New York)
March 4, 200619 yr Cuyahoga a creek!!..anorexic!!...swan river!!...well....you know...uh...at least it was a very "elemental" river at one time!! What other river in Ohio could support water, mud, AND fire all at the same time! Oh yeah...you got served!!! HA no, wait, maybe I did LOL Yes, that river is rather small, like the Rocky River just to the West. My Dad gives me the same shots. HE, being from the Pittsburgh area, lived right on the Manonga...the Mahogn...the...well you know which one, always says THAT was a river, NOT the Cuyahoga. So then always begins the great debate...river vs. great lake!
March 4, 200619 yr well the song is "burn on, big river" not big creek. in the eyes of america its huge and mythic. it carved out a valley too, so it must have been something back in the caveman days. heh. but seriously i agree w/ cdawg, maumee and ohio and thats about it for real deal rivers in ohio.
