Posted March 2, 200619 yr This bldg. is located on 10900 Euclid Avenue. It was designed by Frank Gehry and is part of the Case Western University campus. The bldg. was completed in 2002. Thanks to a nice donation ($37 million) Peter B. Lewis was able to get his name placed on this cool bldg. More info at: http://www.galinsky.com/buildings/peterblewis/index.htm
March 2, 200619 yr ^ Take that vontz It's really not on euclid, the campus is, just not this building in particular. Its located on ford and bellflower. Its also why I think ghery is a hackjob that dosent pay attention to context of buildings. Winter ice and snow builds up on all those funky curves and causes ice to fall on people below.

I like Gehry, but his buildings can have issues. The Gehry Opera(?) House in LA had a problem with the intense sunlight reflecting off the building and causing problems for passing drivers. It also generated some serious heating issues.. That building also has those funky curves. I believe they had to rough up or dull the metal somehow.
March 2, 200619 yr and it's a freaking business school! this was supposed to help them compete with Ivy League schools? I don't get it...
March 2, 200619 yr I'm still waiting for an architectural style that is both innovative and able to work in an urban context. I like the building, but it could never work as a part of a larger block of buildings, it has to be a stand alone piece of art.
March 4, 200619 yr yeah, 10900 euclid is the university's mailing address. i have a crappy thread of the building somewhere, but i'm lazy.
March 5, 200619 yr great pics of a wacky and wild gehry building and now all i can see is that cheapazz streetlight. thanks a lot ink. :-P
March 7, 200619 yr I'm still waiting for an architectural style that is both innovative and able to work in an urban context. I like the building, but it could never work as a part of a larger block of buildings, it has to be a stand alone piece of art. I think that some of Gehry's earlier stuff worked in the urban context. Fred & Ginger might be my favorite building, period.
March 12, 200619 yr Just thought that I would throw this out there: http://www.kunstler.com/eyesore_200510.html
March 13, 200619 yr I've never really spent any time on his website, but I just went through several years of "Eyesores of the month". There are some real good ones on their. Kunstler takes on both Starchitects and corporate designs, not to mention plain old boneheaded architecture, with some seriously cutting wit.
