Still disappointed this isn’t downtown. It’s such a hard area to get to, and makes zero sense.

Map reveals details on Treeline District development north of downtown Fort Wayne

The primary development plan for the Treeline District north of downtown Fort Wayne has been filed ahead of June’s Plan Commission meeting.

The development, which sits on the property of the former Pepsi plant, is described as “an extension of Promenade Park“. Plans include apartments, retail space and a public parking garage.

A map shown in the plans displays a mixed-use building over 400,000 square feet called “The Canopy”. There’s also a 2,312 square-foot storage building, “The Boathouse,” which sits near the river. In a park on the property, there’s another 2,312 square-foot building deemed “The Tree House”.

Love seeing all this growth in Fort Wayne. None of the new buildings are anything exciting architecturally, but the differences between these areas from 8 years ago, when I lived there, to now are crazy. Hopefully it all comes together like they plan, and they can continue to build the downtown

Tree Line District developers plan to break ground end of 2025

A public hearing at the Fort Wayne Plan Commission explained how the Tree Line District developers want to make a more cohesive district. Neighbors are concerned that developers are leaving out important details within the project.

The private-public project was announced just under one year ago. Destined to overtake the former downtown Pepsi plant, it will include two public buildings, “The Treehouse” and “The Boathouse,” and one private building, “The Canopy.”

City Redevelopment Director Alec Johnson said, “The Treehouse” is still under development, meaning no potential use is confirmed. One option for the building would be to use it as a public, rentable space programmed by the parks department. The future for “The Boathouse” is also undetermined, but some ideas that were discussed include using the building for bike rentals or a small restaurant.
