Posted December 4, 20168 yr 2016 turned out to be a pretty productive travel year for me. I've shared a few of my trips throughout the year, but some of them were shorter, or I didn't get around to putting a thread together, or whatever other reason. So I figured I'd put together a thread (in roughly chronological order) that covers some of the places I went this year that didn't make it into other threads. BALTIMORE 1. 2. 3. Way more Baltimore photos at http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,30487.msg786283.html#msg786283 WASHINGTON D.C. 4. 5. The newest Trump luxury resort. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. MINNESOTA 11. 12. 13. 14. 15. 16. PENNSYLVANIA 17. 18. 19. NATIONAL PARKS 20. 21. 22. 23. 24. 25. LAS VEGAS 26. 27. 28. 29. 30. 31. 32. CLEVELAND 33. 34. 35. 36. 37. INDIANAPOLIS 38. 39. 40. December 5, 20168 yr Fantastic set; we hit many of the same destinations this year: Baltimore, D.C., Denver, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Cedar Point and all of those Ohio towns, and National Parks (just different ones). Great shots of Split Rock Lighthouse and Duluth; I really enjoy the North Shore of Superior.
December 5, 20168 yr Nice! Hell of a year you had! "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 7, 20168 yr very cool you really got around -- and in the case of appalachia, you done got around!
December 7, 20168 yr Very little are more beautiful and American than row houses in picture one. Talk about starting with a bang.
January 7, 20178 yr #63-66 were all in Shawnee, which is maybe a half hour from Nelsonville. And I was in Seattle for work and unfortunately had next to no time to even take many iPhone photos. Maybe next time I'll stay out for a long weekend. “To an Ohio resident - wherever he lives - some other part of his state seems unreal.”
January 7, 20178 yr Thanks for sharing a very impressive set of photos covering a wide geographical area and with architecture spanning two centuries or more. From my own travels, I recognize photo # 47 as a faded mansion in the Dayton neighborhood of Daytonview (on Yale I believe) It's really sad to see the decline there in what was once one of the most prestigious neighborhoods in the City. More hopeful is Springfield's South Fountain Street intact historic streetscape in photo #51. Shawnee's unique overhanging upper galleried porch commercial buildings should be in the national treasure category and perhaps they would be if the community were not so remote. Its on my bucket list of places to visit. It's kind of sad to see the lone survivor in photo # 76 of what must have once been an urban residential neighborhood in the Victorian era. The nature photos from 21-25 are very impressive as well. Great set, overall.
