Posted December 22, 20168 yr Earlier this year I was able to borrow a drone from a friend and take lots of aerial photos from around Cincinnati's urban core. I've shared a few of these in other threads but here is a consolidated thread of some of the best. December 22, 20168 yr Fantastic. You should consider submitting to Daily Overview. http://www.dailyoverview.com/home2
December 22, 20168 yr Awesome set! I knew that Glencoe Auburn was demolished, but I had no idea they also took down everything on Inwood and the south side of Wellington.
December 22, 20168 yr Awesome set! I knew that Glencoe Auburn was demolished, but I had no idea they also took down everything on Inwood and the south side of Wellington. Yeah, a big apartment complex is going up there, like 200+ units. The light beige apartment building right on Auburn has been renovated by I think Uptown Properties. There was a 1960's-era plex behind it that has been demolished along with the historic buildings on Wellington.
December 23, 20168 yr Great set! Very cool, especially the rail yard photos! I'm just curious, did you submit this on any of the other urban forums? If so, do you have links?
December 23, 20168 yr I have not. The only other forum I sometimes share photos on is skyscrapercity.com and I might repost this thread there. But if you want to share this thread or some of the photos to other forums, feel free to do so!

But if you want to share this thread or some of the photos to other forums, feel free to do so! I recently ventured back onto City-Data after a 2-year hiatus. The same idiots are still on there. It's still totally out-of-control compared to skyscrapercity and skyscraperpage. Each of those has a lot less activity than city-data and skyscraperpage looks like it's down to a trickle of activity. I guess most people have moved over to reddit or facebook.
December 23, 20168 yr I'm glad you posted these for all to see. "You don't just walk into a bar and mix it up by calling a girl fat" - buildingcincinnati speaking about new forumers
December 27, 20168 yr Now that I've seen these awesome "Drone-view" photos, "Earthview" images are so vastly inferior. Thanks so much for posting them. How great it would be if someday all aerial views were like these or perhaps you could start your own company and expand your geographical reach. Smaller and more rural towns especially often lack streetviews (or provide very limited boundaries) and the earthviews provide little detail-if you want to see things from above, it doesn't get any better than the photos taken from the drone. (unless you take to the air yourself in a helicopter or hot air balloon)
December 27, 20168 yr As drone technology improves, I could see Google (or a competitor) launching a fleet of drones that would take aerial imagery at a lower altitude than their current aerial views. This would be much higher resolution and could be updated more frequently, as they could just re-do a particular part of a city when a major new development happens. I'd be shocked if they're not already working on something like that.
December 27, 20168 yr The ramp that leads over the short tunnel is now in place and its incline from I-71 N is very steep. It gives the impression of being the steepest off-ramp in the metro, but nobody has driven up it yet.
December 28, 20168 yr It always amazes me when you hear about the stats on OTR and how it lost over 50% of it's original stock, yet when you do these rooftop ariels you can't help but see this massive collection of old buildings and really can't notice the widespread demolition that occurred.. I guess it becomes more apparent on certain blocks and certain streets, but it's nice that the destruction of OTR never came to the point where it was just 1 massive ocean of parking lots, with some historic buildings in between.
January 30, 20178 yr I saw a police officer check on people flying a drone off the edge of Mt. Adams this past weekend. I'm sure that the people living in The Celestial are sick of people flying drones out of that parking lot.
