January 3, 20178 yr Nice! Brings back a lot of memories! Adriatico's is moving again?? That would be their 4th location! I worked at the first two locations.
January 3, 20178 yr Thanks for the pics. Are there any big time apartment projects in construction right now in Uptown like the VP3 project? Also, love Short Vine, hopefully, it can continue to turn around and see more and more investment, it's a fabulous business district
January 3, 20178 yr Nice! Brings back a lot of memories! Adriatico's is moving again?? That would be their 4th location! I worked at the first two locations. No but the wheels are turning for the transformation of that block. Pomodorie's went out of business in 2015 and the lot is under ownership that probably wants the nearby houses on Lyon and Adriatico's + Mr. Tuxedo + whatever else it can get. Meanwhile during the recession the owner of Adriatico's got the current location (former Shirley's Laundromat) + one house further down the block for a parking lot. Then around 2013 or 2014 he got the house next to that parking lot which he is renting out. So there are several players on that block.
January 3, 20178 yr Are there any big time apartment projects in construction right now in Uptown like the VP3 project? No nothing big is under construction right now.

The first location was a TINY hole in the wall across the street from Daniels Hall on Jefferson.
January 3, 20178 yr ^Yes I remember that one but I never went in there. It was where that strip of condos is now.
January 3, 20178 yr Are there any big time apartment projects in construction right now in Uptown like the VP3 project? No nothing big is under construction right now. I've been trying to guess where the next big project will be - there's the hotel tower at Vine and McMillan that has been in the works for awhile, but the southwest corner of Auburn and McMillan has been cleared for awhile and I haven't heard anything about it. It seems ripe - but I think a developer would want that massive Cinco drive-thru as well. I've never paid attention as to whether or not that even gets used - is there a big rush on it on pay day or something? Isn't everyone on direct deposit by now?
January 3, 20178 yr Yeah the Cinco drive-thru is a mystery. I wonder if it has some sort of affiliation with the numerous county agencies that have offices toward Highland. The developers obviously want that dip since they could build-up a structure on an "underground" garage without the expense of excavation and full ventilation. We'll probably see a push to have Auburn widened from McMillan down to Glencoe, at least. The geometry of the McMillan/Auburn intersection is weirder than it looks on paper, and a big-time development there along with the 200+ units planned for Auburn at Wellington will bring a lot more cars to the area. I took those photos down the length of Calhoun and McMillan because I was going to do a post illustrating how difficult it's going to be to transform those streets into anything more than they are now. No way could they turn each of those two-way AND add bike lanes AND add a transit-only lane without eliminating most or all parking. The city needs to be trying to get as much ROW along each street where there is vacant property now for at least one additional lane that could be used for on-street parking. It's not hard to see the many spots where the streets can be widened by 10 feet which would allow the 2-way conversion + a transit lane + maintaining at least some on-street parking and loading zones. The former Pomadorie's parking is a minor example but there are many spots where ROW can be reserved such as the CVS/Cinco block and several long stretches between Highland and Walnut Hills.
January 12, 20178 yr Nice pictures, great thread. Side question: Does Cincinnati require buildings to be built up to the sidewalk through their zoning code? It seems like most of their structures are built to the sidewalk. Lovely if they do require it.

I've been trying to guess where the next big project will be - there's the hotel tower at Vine and McMillan that has been in the works for awhile that sounds fine, but please don't tell me they are going to knock down corys bar or whatever its called now? i forget the current name. its not that corner is it?
