Hi everyone!  I was bored today so I went for a walk around where I live, which is Berea.  For a suburb, Berea has a lot of good things going for it and I wanted to share some pictures with you all.  Same old crap as all of my other pictures and I will give you a raise tomorrow if you show up to work without a shirt on.

That's all for now since I was pressed for time this afternoon.  Berea has really nice urban fabric so it makes for a very walkable little suburb.  The fact that the college is a big part of the city also helps with keeping the area designed towards pedestrians.  You don't really hit too much sprawl until you go pretty far east or west on Bagley, although Middleburgh Heights is the Douche Bigelow of sprawl.  Have a great day and I hope you all enjoyed yet another craptastic tour of another city in Ohio.

Very nice tour, Berea has a very interesting and well kept downtown.

Not really much of anything old that we saw, but not too bad for new development.

Berea's a nice little town.  I've been through their once; though, I really didn't have time to explore the area.  Nice pics!

Going to the Quotes thread.

I love the architecture of the old Baldwin Wallace buildings. I lived in Berea for three years, and enjoyed it very much. Nice pics.

Nice photos. I stopped by there on a Sunday afternoon a few years ago and was impressed by how clean and orderly and well-kept it appeared. I wasn't sure if I could stand that much excitement, though.

How far is this from Cleveland?

Montecarloss...last time I checked Berea is about 13 or 14 miles southwest of Cleveland.  I could be wrong though but when I head downtown it usually takes like 12 to 15 minutes.

That's about right. I can also tell you railroad-wise.... The rail lines converge on the north side of town, 12 miles from downtown Cleveland. Downtown Berea is about another mile or two south of The Junction.

It is just SW of the airport.

Oh, I've got a bad case of Berea...

(it does sound like a disease, doesn't it?)

Does Dr. Cherry still teach at BW?  I think the building you work is in is the one I took piano lessons from him in...and my brother and his family live on Fillier, so I'm in Berea fairly often when I get up north...very nice suburb...

Not a bad looking town at all.  I've never been there.  Maybe I should go.

What's the story with that brick infill?

They are townhouses that were just starting to get built the year I moved out of Berea (1996). There was a pedestrian promenade on that side of the street that overlooked the Rocky River, and was removed for the townhouses. My parents considered buying one of them several years ago, but only one remaining for sale wasn't finished. The price was exceedingly high (I don't remember the figure--maybe $300K?) but I do remember that it still needed about $100K worth of work to finish it. They're very sharp however, and in a wonderful location -- right in the old town center, overlooking the Rocky River, with a large shopping complex just on the other side of the river, plus the Berea lakes and BW a short walk/bike ride away.
