May 20, 20196 yr There going to be a lot of foot traffic going thru there once its up and running. The LED sign of the garage facade should light up the place at night like Broadway!

Great place to be a student theater actor at CSU! Indeed. Still not a huge fan of the purple brick they used on the Edge's facade though ?
May 21, 20196 yr Starting to pour 13th floor today....Now that the yellow screens are up, they are moving!!
May 22, 20196 yr ^It's entirely possible the crew may have been working, but during down time, tower cranes are usually purposely set to 'weathervane'. Tower crane weathervaning clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
May 22, 20196 yr These guys have been pouring almost 2 floors a week, which is an insane pace. I know they are working weekends, but not sure what their shift schedule is like during the day. Very possible that they have an evening shift.
May 22, 20196 yr What floor do you think they will be working on when the MLB All-Star game rolls into town? I am guessing somewhere around the 20th floor.

It's 7 weeks away (from yesterday). If they keep up at the pace they're moving, I think they may be over 25 floors by then.

Love that angle with view of the flats. Yes I prefer downtown views of skyline and even boxed in views of other building across the street you see in other cities but that would get old overtime I feel. My sister who lives in Chicago when working downtown told me once her most favorite view was being able to see sliver of Lake Michigan between the buildings. This building being on east end wont get good skyline views? Euclid side only chance it appears but I could see myself reading a good book on a cold winter day pausing to look out at the flats. One of the best views I enjoyed was posted on here years ago Maybe the one across from the 9 that got rehabbed??. Don't remember name but around 9th and Euclid. Could look all the way down ninth and I think Euclid both ways and looked very urban. What's rent going for this when opened and are they taking leases yet? If so is it getting filled nicely? Probably too soon for that yet. On 5/17/2019 at 8:35 AM, Oldmanladyluck said: ? Nice to see this is beginning to move along quickly now. Makes me want more construction!! The downtown seems to have had a crane up almost continuous this decade. Starting with Ernst and Young, Hilton-a slight break- Beacon and now Lumen. Next Nucleus and maybe finally a super tall after that! Plus with all the residential conversions it has been a good decade relatively speaking. Hopefully the momentum will make next decade even better. We need the office segment to come back next decade in full force. Edited May 23, 20196 yr by Mildtraumatic

I'm betting they are trying to get that floor sealed off from the weather to get to work on the inside. That way they'll have workers doing finishes/MEPs etc while they're still pouring floors above.
May 23, 20196 yr Just now, GISguy said: Perhaps I'm showing my naivety on this, but is it normal to put glass on this early? This building has progressed enough to allow the build-out of the lower floors to get moving and head upwards. Normal.
May 23, 20196 yr ^Yes seems normal to me. What seems abnormal is how long it has taken the Beacon to get its facade up and complete.
May 23, 20196 yr ^ That's more about Arbor Construction, I hope they don't do nuCLEus. I don't know if the CM has been announced for that yet.

Dont know if it’s been announced, but it’s Cleveland Construction. Should start seeing some glass on Lumen in the next couple months is my guess. They’ll need to start soon so that it follows the tower as it goes up and hopefully be buttoned up by winter time. Edited May 23, 20196 yr by Klingaling87 Removed comments unrelated to Lumen
May 23, 20196 yr I just looked at Cleveland Construction website and under the projects section it seems that they have done/are doing plenty of urban high-rise projects ( out of state), maybe I am missing something?

I wouldn’t categorize the one hotel in Asheville as “plenty”. They don’t have the experience you would want for this type of project.

May 24, 20196 yr The Hanna building is almost exactly the half-way mark. Hanna building = 194ft The Lumen = 396ft It's going to dwarf the surrounding buildings.

No matter how many times this is pointed out, it's just nuts how it'll really transform that part of town. I moved here about 3-4 years ago, looks like I picked the right time! lol Good on the Playhouse Square Foundation for moving this project forward super, super fast.

May 24, 20196 yr ^^World Class Glass, and World Class Signage in the same pic. We need some of this new construction on the lots between Chester and Payne, around E. 12th. Not changing the topic- I'll have to go there and take a pic to show just how much those lots suck when compared to the surrounding activity.

May 24, 20196 yr FRIDAY, MAY 24, 2019 Seeds & Sprouts - Early intel on real estate projects This is the first edition of Seeds & Sprouts - Early intelligence on Cleveland-area real estate projects. Because these projects are very early in their process of development or just a long-range plan, a lot can and probably will change their final shape, use and outcome. Playhouse Square: The Lumen, Act II What will Playhouse Square Foundation (PHS) in downtown Cleveland do for an encore if early leasing at The Lumen apartment tower on Euclid Avenue at East 17th Street meets or exceeds expectations? The next performance could well be another residential tower for the theater district. I think that it'll be fine, could put something there to cater to students or residents. There's a lot of large retail spots Downtown that have been sitting vacant for a while.
June 3, 20196 yr This is going to have such a big impact here, looking good! Am I the only one that thinks the Edge looks permanently unfinished??
