Here's a shot from Tuesday from the 26th floor of 1111 Superior ... amazing how different it appears without the crane. I keep doing double takes, lol.

Just imagine what it's gonna look like when it's over 100' taller!

A much more  significant building than the stubby Beacon.

The CSU building across the street with its worthless lawn is an annoyance, but great shot for sure.

That's the Business building. You'd be surprised at how much green space CSU doesn't have. I agree they could do something more with it. I'm all for a little bit of assisted forestry. "Forest City" anyone?

Lawn City.

It's the Urban Affairs building along Euclid and the business building back toward Chester.  For such a great urban affairs program, they have a very un-urban building.

I'm a graduate of that school, and the College of Urban Affairs building angers/confounds me every time I see it. Ugh on the black mirrored glass windows and weird setback.   - "The shoemaker's children are going barefoot"

Now if we can just extend that development all the way to University Circle we'll have something akin to Manhattan .... or rather one street of it anyway.

Literally like a re-run of Millionaire's Row?

Except now we're forced to look up to them both literally and figuratively and visa-versa.

Should create some nice reflections during sunrise and sunset!

It doesn't block the view of the B.F. Keith Building though!

Can you give it a rest, please?

Let me put it another way:

When you have a building with a gorgeous facade like the Keith bldg. it is OK to have a building in front with a lower parapet height and a sidewalk set back to show it off.   Lot's of cities with historically significant buildings do that-Toronto is an example.

There,  is that easier for you to understand or do I need to post examples?

The new CSU building next to Trinity Cathedral is a good example of a setback that exposes the cathedral that was previously obscured.

Sorry, I don’t believe I understand the argument here, have I captured this right?

Side 1: The lumen blocks the view of the Keith building from the south and it’s not as pretty as the Keith—therefore it shouldn’t block the Keith.

Side 2: It’s an urban center—buildings block each other, that’s the nature of the beast.

Side 1 follow-on: a classy building should be showcased, that’s why CSU’s lawns are okay.

Side 2 follow-on: it’s an urban center—buildings block each other, that’s the nature of the beast (inferred argument: lawns are never acceptable downtown).

Yeah right after you give it a rest, permanently.

The PNC setback serves no purpose as far as a can tell.

Ten years ago this place was a ghost town.

Flew into town because my father had surgery last week and took these while I was there.  These where taken at Metrohealth on W. 25.  Lumen is on the right side of the skyline.

Pouring floor #25 today

So how many more floors do we have to go before we are done?

9 more to go

there are 24 stories completed, pouring the 25th "floor" today.  so 10 more stories to go

So we should be topped off somewhere at the end of October or beginning of November.

I check UrbanOhio everyday for news on development and progress on projects. Today I finally decided to sign up and add a post.

^Welcome and thank you for the post!

Anyone have an idea of the retail they are targeting for that portion of the project?

^ IKEA ?

@Neal435CLE welcome and thanks for the recent pics -- its cool to see from that angle.

The retail is not very big.  It will likely be a gift shop or something similar. PHS did not want to give up parking spaces for the retail.  The only reason there is any retail at all is because of push back from the city and the county.

Took this while walking to the Indians game last night.

Pictures don't give this project justice. It looks SO COOL in person. It's going to be much wider (looking at it from the East) than I thought. I'm already jealous of the people who will call this place home.

Close. 25/34 complete so we got 9 left!

If I'm seeing this correctly, they might need to do a third small crane jump to finish the last 1 or 2 floors... I'm measuring the height of the floors and it doesn't seem like 9 floors will be able to fit under the crane.

^ There's going to be one more jump.

While not super close-up, these shots taken from Tri-C Metro show how this structure is really densifying and bulking up the east end of downtown. These next 9 floors will really make it pop and send it to the next level for our skyline!

Pic from this morning, 26th floor of 1111 Superior. We're finally seeing some glass from up here! And I played around with Photoshop a bit to imagine the view in another couple of months.

Thank you.  I couldn't get out of the frame lol.

This is going up quickly. Didn't they just break ground about 7 months ago?

I think the crane went up 7 months ago... But it broke ground around a year ago I'm pretty sure.

This is interesting.  The Keith Building has 21 floors.  The Lumen is currently at the same height as the roof of the Keith (The Keith's "22nd floor"?) but has 25 floors?

Is that correct?
