More likely, however, was the state of his finances. I do remember seeing a rendering of a 20 story (or so) building in the newspapers back in 1958. So, the C & H building will remain a two story building looking like an anomaly downtown. Maybe someone can find the article in the Cleveland Press or Plain Dealer archives at the Cleveland Public Library.
August 18, 20195 yr This thing absolutely TOWERS over Euclid and creates an amazing urban canyon with the Keith building? Edited August 18, 20195 yr by urbanetics_

August 19, 20195 yr Leave it to Playhouse Square to set the bar in this city.... in residential tower construction.... lol
August 19, 20195 yr ^I think its satire - but the fact that they've been tweeting for 5 days and McDonalds legal hasn't shut it down is concerning

August 19, 20195 yr I was out and about today... got some nice pictures of the Lumen from some new angles.
August 19, 20195 yr A couple of fun attempts with the pano technique described by @ASPhotoman above. The effect is cool and slightly whimsical ?
August 19, 20195 yr The windows are at the perfect height to fit the entire reflection. It kinda looks like they're building ontop of Keith.

August 19, 20195 yr ^^^ Thanks! No fisheye, just my iPhone camera. The slightly concave look is the result of my inability to keep the guide arrow straight while panning skyward. ?
August 22, 20195 yr Somebody needs to wake up the guy manning the construction cam. https://app.truelook.com/?u=gp1532442178#tl_live

Seeing as the horizon is perfectly centered in the shot. I wish they would have mounted the camera on a different building.
August 22, 20195 yr Instead of another pic of the building itself, here's the view from a construction worker at the lumen.
August 22, 20195 yr Another construction view from a couple weeks ago...this will offer fantastic sunrise views! "We each pay a fabulous price for our visions of paradise." - ????, ???????
August 23, 20195 yr What is that hanging of the top of the tower? Looks like a giant mailbox flag. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
August 23, 20195 yr Perhaps it's a silly question, but walking in today and hearing and seeing all the work going on, is there an estimate for how many day to day workers there are on site?

August 23, 20195 yr The transformation of Euclid over the last ten years is simply remarkable. The only thing missing are places to shop.
August 23, 20195 yr Nice. It's moving along so fast. I took some shots of the construction progress when I was there a few weeks ago. Downtown looks amazing. Keep up the great work Cleveland. :)

Having been born in CLE and having spent most of my adult life in NYC, I was always amazed at how, despite being a suburban commute to NYC, people from CT always sound like native Clevelanders vs others from the NE.

August 25, 20195 yr A bit different view....from 22nd/Cedar earlier this afternoon on this beautiful Cleveland summer day.
August 26, 20195 yr I live in Tampa, but regularly follow up on the construction goings-on in Cleveland (my home town). Anyways, can anyone explain to me the point of the long vertical stripes on the building? I can't judge them in person as I am in Florida. However, does anyone (who has seen the building in person) let me know if they actually look good or just as bad as they do in the pictures? Thanks!

Here’s the original proposal: https://www.cleveland.com/architecture/2017/06/early_designs_show_playhouse_s.html One of the review committees told them the design needed to be improved. They also told them that the garage must have first floor retail. (The original design was “display windows” in front of garage spots “that could be converted to retail.”) Playhouse Square made changes to accommodate those requests, and the updated design was approved. https://www.cleveland.com/architecture/2017/08/city_wins_compromise_adding_re.html I think the updates are a big improvement. I do not expect it to be on the short list of best Cleveland buildings, but it will be a very nice addition to the city. Edited August 26, 20195 yr by Boomerang_Brian Typo When is the last time I-71 turned a profit?
August 27, 20195 yr Great post by Boomerang- very enlightening (pun intended) I know opinions will vary - I happen to think the revised design is more unique and generally dressier. As any theatrical performer knows, better to make an impression - one way or another. The revision, to me, says “theatre district” more than “office”. I’m sure that was the idea..
August 27, 20195 yr Not sure if I had seen this before, but I found what used to sit in location of the present-day Lumen: SOURCE: https://www.hippostcard.com/listing/unused-pre-1980-street-scene-cleveland-ohio-oh-hp1836/22006640 Edited August 27, 20195 yr by MuRrAy HiLL
