September 12, 20195 yr 9 minutes ago, mrnyc said: ^ really? they already have a somewhat newish justice tower -- i got married in it !! has crime jumped? Yes, kind of, Franklin county built a courthouse back in 2011... By building the new courthouse they were able to relocate older courtrooms into the new building, modernized, and consolidate the common pleas court operations. Following the completion of the new Common Pleas Courthouse, they were able to gut and renovate the older 1950s tower to help alleviate the office space crunch/pressures while allowing some freedom to renovate and organize the rest of the courthouse campus. Now, the new courthouse that voters approved back in November will be to replace the city court and municipal court offices located in the 17 floor 1970s concrete office structure that butts up against I-70/71 thats kind of hidden by the larger 30 story tower built in the 1990s. So short answer, nah crime hasn't really jumped, but the structures are reaching their functional life and the city and county have been slowly modernizing/rebuilding one by one to keep things moving and avoid problems in the future.

Not to get too off-topic, but here's a comparison chart I made recently that is fairly accurate (could be missing some) and provides some insights about skyscraper development. Looking at this chart, it's surprising (although becoming less and less surprising) how seemingly far ahead development-wise Cleveland is out of the 3 Cs in Ohio. Sure NuCLEus is stalled (hopefully not for good), but from what a few posters on this forum have been hinting at, there could be even more announcements on the horizon, hence the Unknown towers listed below. It feels to me like we are far ahead of the game in Ohio. And The Lumen and Beacon projects is a great example of our momentum. SHW would be the greatest icing on the cake. Important note: Unless I missed something crucial, Cincinnati has no current developments/proposals whatsoever reaching 300 ft or higher. A little unfortunate. You are correct about Cincinnati. There is a ton of development going on in downtown Cincinnati just nothing with significant height. This will most likely be changing VERY soon with details of the new convention center hotel being finalized this fall. I’m thinking it will be about 900 rooms or so with some great height. Anyway this lumen project looks pretty good! Edited September 15, 20195 yr by 646empire Misspelling

September 17, 20195 yr If anyone in the area has a chance, could we get a photo of the SE corner of the building (E. 17th and Prospect)? September 19, 20195 yr Dont sell Cleveland short. I lived in NYC for 20 years and downtown Cleveland street scenes are often used to mimick the streets of Manhattan in the movies. There are more similarities than you may realize; just on a much smaller scale. Terminal Tower was modeled after the Manhattan Municipal Building in lower Manhattan. Also, One Cleveland Center was designed by the same architects as the Citigroup Center on Lexington Avenue. Note the resemblance. Let's not forget Playhouse Square vs. Broadway. And then we have NYC's Highline vs Cleveland's Public Square. The Lumen will also bring that NYC vibe; just need foot traffic to go with it. https://images.app.goo.gl/1YcPMBhqxSuBV8rN8 https://images.app.goo.gl/uj6GCbNWmSRAuSSt8 The Lumen is also reminiscent of what is currently under construction at the WTC site and Hudson Yards. https://images.app.goo.gl/pevQ87Y5GZRBuoJC6 https://images.app.goo.gl/KxcQ67QfzbHbBnKr5 Edited September 19, 20195 yr by Frmr CLEder Additional examples of similarities between Cleveland and NYC.

September 19, 20195 yr Cleveland is a phenomenal city with a very rich and colorful history. It has rich cultural institutions and unrivaled assets, that are the envy of many other cities, and for those younger forum readers, take pride in your incredible city. While it has had and continues to have its challenges, it also has so much to be proud of. The Lumen is a stunning example of one of Cleveland's world-class cultural institutions putting it's best foot forward. Edited September 19, 20195 yr by Frmr CLEder Syntax

September 20, 20195 yr That's a different location @tastybunns. The one that @mov2Ohio posted is southwest of downtown based on the alignment of Terminal Tower and 200 Public Square.
