October 10, 20195 yr Hopefully this won't delay them. They should be able to fix that in a few weeks.
October 10, 20195 yr oh wow! went through the concrete slab below as well. https://www.instagram.com/cle_and_beyond/https://www.instagram.com/jbkaufer/
October 10, 20195 yr OSHA gonna have some questions for Gilbane.......That's their second accident in two years. Someone died at CSU Engineering building construction few years ago

Right, I imagine this will delay progress considerably. The repairs itself will probably less than a month, but the redtape to investigate the cause can take a considerable about of time...one would think...
October 10, 20195 yr They should gift photos of this incident in the affected units! They should also charge MORE for those units, solely based on the story!
October 10, 20195 yr None of the residential units are affected. Damage was limited to the parking garage. "In the souls of the people the grapes of wrath are filling and growing heavy, growing heavy for the vintage." -- John Steinbeck
October 10, 20195 yr I know next to nothing about construction so asking anyone does an investigation into an incident like this shut down the entire site? If so are the workers just SOL until it picks back up or collect unemployment? It looks just like the parking structure was damaged so @MyTwoSense no units involved.

When the tower crane smashed into the Hilton during construction, work was only shut down for a couple days. Interior work will likely be unaffected. Though I’d expect a safety stand down tomorrow. Crews will probably be back Monday. Though the crane will probably be down longer. Edited October 10, 20195 yr by marty15
October 10, 20195 yr ^Not quite the same as the Hilton crane’s counterweight end was blown into the glass facade. clevelandskyscrapers.com Cleveland Skyscrapers on Instagram
October 10, 20195 yr there actually was little damage. A hole thru the concrete, which can be fixed in a day. The rest was just the underlayment for the concrete floor. They can put that back up in a day.

Lumen extends a hand to Rhodes Tower, if you will, that will make it look more a part of downtown instead of on an island What Yabo said...and I’ve said it previously - now Rhodes Tower is more connected...
October 11, 20195 yr I just see things in the eyes of the military, it's actually funny believe it or not; if it was indeed the cable that failed on its own, believe it or not Article 15's and LOR's for anybody related to the crane incident, no justification, just go with it.

Unless it’s related to purposely overloading. This project is on a fast track. 7 days a week.

If the beam broke any of the tensioning cables they've got a problem. They might be able to repair the hole without tearing out an entire section, but that's a job for specialists ($$) that they will likely be calling in to try to stay on schedule. If not, they may have to tear out an entire section and repour the concrete, which requires time for curing, which means more delay.

October 15, 20195 yr I agree. This building and the Hilton-and even the Beacon are high quality additions to the Cleveland skyline. Rumor has it that the new Sherwin-Williams HQ/R&D complex may set a new bar.
October 15, 20195 yr I still don't like the building. However, I will say it has a night reflective effect during the evening hours.
October 16, 20195 yr From an eastbound Red Line train. Impressive height considering its roughly ~1.3 miles away. From Euclid and 9th. I like how it kind of sticks out from behind the Hanna building.

I'm sure in time it will help to encourage other groundbreaking projects!
October 18, 20195 yr From yesterday morning on a dreary fall Cleveland day. Note the car with NY plates departing (probably heading for @KJP's neighborhood!)
October 18, 20195 yr It's reached 34th so almost time for the flag, or tree - whatever is done nowadays!

October 18, 20195 yr You're counting to the very top, no matter how unfinished? I count 20 with the glass plus 14 - with the plastic, etc. Edited October 18, 20195 yr by lafont
October 18, 20195 yr Its 34.......still have to put the steel beams up that will house the rooftop mechanicals. probably has another 20 feet to go.
October 18, 20195 yr Floors are counted as levels they started on the 32nd Floor on September 19th. So I think 34 sounds about right. 36 levels in all.

October 23, 20195 yr Old and new - the Keith building and the Lumen are both very distinct and have opposite styles, yet simultaneously they also mesh so well together and contribute to a beautiful and diverse downtown architectural fabric.
October 23, 20195 yr Awesome photos by Paul and urbanetics! Lumen has a great impact at both the street level and the skyline view. It continues the standard of excellence set by the theaters and the classic architecture surrounding it, while saying to future developers "Seconnd rate proposals need not apply".

In the second photo, the floor currently being glassed actually juts out in the middle, creating a different visual plane of glass. Apparently these are only on the north and west sides of the building. The south and east sides appear to be flush. Love it! Edited October 23, 20195 yr by Frmr CLEder
