Visited the new Edgewater Park beachhouse at sunset tonight. It opened about a week ago. It's an outstanding setting and I expect it will continue to be popular. It certainly was popular on this toasty evening....

Hope you enjoyed!

I don't even recognize that place!

It looks like they serve beer there?  Did I see that right?

Beer, wine, and a limited number of cocktails. And you can take your drink anywhere within the roped off area--including down to the beach. It felt like spring break there yesterday during the day (and I mean that in a good way)

Great pictures!!! I'm actually heading there today.  What the MetroParks has done for that beach is fantastic.  Can the rest of the city be turned over to them?! lol

went there yesterday and it was very busy and looked great.

Seeing all the people down there as well as at various locations around downtown this weekend was impressive. I know that Cleveland hasn't gained in population, so my first reaction in seeing all of the crowds is "where the hell have you people been?" :)

That looks like so much fun! I haven't been there in a few months. It was a lot more dreary then.

I want to go to there.

It's possible the previously fearful out in suburban areas have now started to develop a level of comfort on our city neighborhoods

Just got back from Edgewater......The traffic jams on both side of the shoreway should be an indication of how well the MetroParks have done.  It was absolutely packed down there.  And the beach house lines to get food, drink or alcohol were crazy!!...Even better...Whiskey Island was slammed and so was Merwins Wharf.......Fun day!!

We were planning on going to Sunset Grill for dinner but those crazy traffic jams getting off the Shoreway at Edgewater Park forced us to pursue other plans.

Not just you KJP, many others were deterred also. These are some unanticipated growing pains.

Nobody goes there anymore,  it's too crowded.  Lol.

This is good to hear.

I think it just goes to show that Greater Cleveland want access to the lake!

A lot of fine restaurants in Gordon square that will hopefully reap the benefits of the crowds

I hope that Gordon Park gets the full Metroparks treatment next.  It would do a lot for the desirability of those northern Eastside neighborhoods, and maybe take some of the pressure off Edgewater.

Amen to that considering it's just southwest of me.

Great stuff.

Just on KJP's pics alone I decided to go to Edgewater yesterday with the kids.  The bathhouse looks great in person- yuuuuge crowd there and at the beach yesterday as well.

...in a word: WOW!  Very nice picks, KJP.  I had no idea this place would be THIS stunning.  Gotta get over there with the quickness...

Wow it looks amazing! I see a Key West style nightly sunset tradition in the works!

^The place looks absolutely incredible in itself, and the open-air bar makes it look even sexier (and from the look of those long lines to get drinks, the bar was a major hit among patrons).  The overhead walkways connecting to the tunnel are a big plus, too; very well integrated and visually attractive.  This building's design is as flawless as one could imagine and just enhances the fact that Edgewater is one of the major urban beaches for a northern city.  Chicago is the only place that would have a clear edge (no pun intended), but those Lake Michigan beaches, along with Chicago's sheer size, are just ridiculous.  But our Edgewater Park takes a backseat to no city...

just amazing, like key west.

i love the swings under the walkway, great idea.

its great they finally brought back the concept of grand beach houses there.
